Hello Folks

Below is my reply to a person who has been badgering me for the past week with emails to get me to join a program called Utility Warehouse.

Thought I would share my reply. Hopefully this will be the last from him. (he's a fellow Scot so lets call him Hamish)

Best Way To Make Money Online

Hello Again Hamish

Good to know you believe Utility Warehouse is an MLM because that's what it is and having a Film/TV star encouraging people to join doesn't make it any the less so.

Wealthy Affiliate on the other hand is a training platform.

It doesn't promise or even set out to make people money from it.

It also only has one upsell to a Premium Membership but people can stay for as long as they want to as a free member and still have two free websites, free domain names, free hosting and free maintenance.

People can create and make money from their own business and that's why they sign up to it and are given that 7 day free trial to see if indeed its what they want to do and have what it takes.

If not, they leave and no harm done.

If they want to give it a go then they can do so for another 30 days for $19.

Granted WA does have an affiliate program but its purely voluntary.

I believe that anyone who gets involved with this are doing it because they don't actually believe they know enough about a Niche and products within that Niche to promote them.

At the end of the day they are just putting more money into the WA owners bank accounts because the work at home Niche is saturated and they will make very little money from it. When new members join and ask my opinion I always tell them not to go down that road for that reason.

I did say that my two sites were purely for informational purposes created for the membership and the general public.

All the information has been acquired by me over many years in online marketing and I like to help.

I also told you the $167 I have made from referrals was simply an accident because I never set out to make it, its just a side effect of the information contained in my sites that people have read and decide to give it a go. Some have stayed and some have left. I don't lose any sleep over it.

I made a reasonable amount of money online years ago, My funeral plan is all paid up and I live what to me is a comfortable lifestyle. I can fly to anywhere in the world and have holidays of a lifetime any time I want to. I just don't want to. I see my two girls don't go without, and help them all the time. My grandkids get nice presents on their birthdays and at Christmas.

This all being said I actually couldn't care less if I make money from WA or not as I told you I have been a Tutor/Mentor for several years and that's how I make money. Not a lot these days but I'm not a greedy person or a materialistic person. I still rent a flat from Edinburgh Council. I don't drive now as I handed back my licence last year and have no interest in having a big house with two cars in the driveway.

I pass on my experience and knowledge and get paid a fee for doing so. I have people who asked for my help from years ago and still come back to ask about this, that or the other and still willing to pay me for my opinion, recommendations, tips and advice.

I also have WA members who are willing to pay me for my expertise and I always point them in the direction of my sites where they can access the information at no cost. I always give people the chance to opt out of paying for info that is freely available.

The WA program gives people great training in order to get them started having their own online business.

Its entirely up to them and their commitment and dedication whether they are successful or not.

The help and support is there, the training is there, the online classrooms are there.

They have all they need to succeed and there are countless members who do.

Utility Warehouse on the other hand wanted me to pay them £100 up front without any trial, without any free getting started lessons, without free websites, without a free domain name, without free hosting and without free maintenance of my free sites.

Which one is the better deal - Wealthy Affiliate or Utility Warehouse - no contest in my book.

Rather a long reply to your message but best to be clear about what I believe and think.

No offence taken from your emails and none meant in this reply.

Perhaps other members have a similar story to tell. Please leave a comment below on why you joined wealthy affiliate. I'm sure it will be appreciated by your fellow members.

Reading that Robert was just like listening to you talking lol. I hope Hamish doesn't bother you any more after this, real Scottish name there as well lol.

I did wonder if you drove but now I know that you don't, mind you, you have your bike that you seem to use a lot. I can't imagine you'll use it a lot in the winter though.

Speak to you soon Robert. xxx

Hello Cheryl and thank you for dropping by and for your comment.
I say it how it is and I suppose coz we have met up a couple of times it would seem as if I was talking to you over a cuppa (minus biscuit lol).
That guy used to be a WA member but left and his reason was that it was too hard and took too long to make money.
In other words he didn't want to put in the work and wanted the quick fix.
I doubt very much he will get that from UW either.
I'm still swithering whether I'm going to Ireland with my mother.
My youngest brother is going as well and he's taking the car so I would get a lift there at least.
Time I was off home so maybe catch you later.
Robert
ps
still got my exercise bike to keep me fit Cheryl

That was exactly what I was talking about and I still owe you tea and definitely biscuits lol, it was just like listening to you speak. I know your thoughts on it all and you have just put down exactly what you have already told me.

If he didn't want to put in the work with WA, what is he going to do that is different this time or is this one of these ones that promise you a get rich quick scheme.

I think you should go to Ireland and enjoy yourself, especially when your brother is driving as it will be a lot easier. You'll need to make up your mind quickly though will you not or you'll miss your chance to go.

At least you can still cycle all round Scotland without having to go out in the cold and wet then lol, and you won't feel guilty about using the buses as you know you are still keeping fit.

Catch you later Robert xxxx

Hi Cheryl
With Utility Warehouse its just for the UK.
What you do is get people to sign up to a bills discount scheme for your gas, electric, phone, internet etc etc.

Mostly this means you get your relatives and friends to do it and you get a commission from their discounted bills.

I'm meeting my brother tomorrow or Tuesday and see what he's doing about Ireland.
Mothers going for a month but he works so its just a week for him.

If I don't go we can meet uptown again if you have any questions or just for a cuppa.

Time I was away now so maybe catch you later.
Robert

Robert,
Well done.
The education part of this platform is what keeps me glued here, along with occasional word from old friends of course.
Thanks for voicing your opinions, and views of some of the current events.
Sami

Hello Sami and long time no see as they say so I guess you are still hard at it.
Hope you have been achieving some success.
The guy I mean in my blog used to be a WA member and left coz he said it was too hard.
I think what he really meant was that he wasn't prepared to put in the work to achieve success.
Wonder what he's going to do once he runs out of family and friends to badger into joining Utility Warehouse?
Have a great Friday Sami and the weekend ahead.
Robert

Yes, there are some of those. We all use different measuring sticks for our success, I am grateful to\be able to study and learn here, and share ideas. The hounding of family and friends is what I wanted to avoid, and that has been allowed to me, by using the education and training here.
Continued success in your efforts to educate those like me.
Sami

Hi again Sami.
You reap what you sow as they say.
Success will not be achieved overnight, at least success worth waiting for.
Onwards and Upwards and have a great Saturday.
Robert

Hi Robert - Great post. I've seen a bunch of affiliate marketing success claims out there, but Wealthy Affiliate to me is the honest roll up your sleeves approach to success. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Patrick and thank you for stopping by.
Hard work is all it takes Patrick and no quick fixes here at WA either.
You reap what you sow as they say.
Have a great Friday and the weekend to come.
Robert

Hi Robert

Thanks for your candid comments.

I definitely joined for the knowledge, although I am developing a Bootcamp site as part of that process. At this point I am not expecting too much from it, but worth having 'a line in the water' - you never know when the fish will be biting :0)

I suspect that something a bit more specialized will be the way to go longer term.

For the record, your introduction does appear on my version of the post.

Cheers
Rod

Hi Rod. If you had read some of the emails I got from this guy my blog would perhaps be more clear as I'm answering his last one wherein he was being quite pushy to say the least.
I added the intro after I realized I hadn't included it originally.

I have to say again that promoting Work From Home will be hard work because of the saturation.
But I'm a firm believer in each to his or her own and if that's the way you want to go I wish you luck.

Thank you for taking the time to read the blog and for your comment.
Enjoy your Thursday.
Robert

Wow. I learned a lot just from your post. Thanks for educating me.

I'm just trying to make enough to supplement Social Security when I do retire. I figure I'll have to work until I'm 70 anyway, but if I continue to work hard with WA, I will be able to retire earlier. I've never been one to want fancy things, but I do want to provide for my family without too much worrying.

I've been hear at WA for 6 weeks, and I have five websites at various stages of developing. I love the training here, and have started a spreadsheet on what I have invested so far. Just the yearly membership and some domain names so far. Not bad for a startup of business.

Deb.

Hi Deb, I forgot to add the introduction to this blog so here it is.

My reply to a person who has been badgering me for the past week with emails to get me to join a program called Utility Warehouse.

Thought I would share my reply. Hopefully this will be the last from him. (he's a fellow Scot so lets call him Hamish)

I'm sure you will do well Deb, just stick at it and take it one step at a time.
You get stuck, you get in touch.
Thank you for your comment.
Robert

I don't know anything about UW, but WA is the best thing I have come across in my relatively short involvement in internet marketing. Thank goodness it crossed my path sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the insights, and I'm glad somebody else said it! :)

As a former distributor of UW, WA DEFINITELY wins hands down!

I was doing UW/WA side by side but it was too much, so one had to go, and it was UW (thankfully).

UW is a toxic money waster and is something I'll never go back to or recommend.

The great thing about affiliate marketing is that you're building a business (which you own) from the ground up, you actually get to choose the products/services you promote, and you can earn a far greater income than Network Marketers in a shorter time. :)

The major downside with UW is that it will never be your business and the chairman/CEO control everything.

Affiliate Marketing ROCKS! :)

Hello Neil, I forgot to put the introduction to this blog so here it is and it will add a bit of clarity.

Thank you for reading the blog and have a good one.
Robert

One of the worst things with UW and in fact, any Network Marketing biz opp is that you're continually harassing family and friends.

At least with WA, we are taught how to "attract" people which is a much better way to build a business. :)

You never know, Hamish might give up UW and join you at WA lol.

No problem!

Cheers, Robert! You too :)

The guy did join WA a few years ago but gave it up as it was too hard, at least that was his excuse.
I honestly can't see him doing well with UW.
Now I'm off out for a few hours.
Onwards and Upwards Neil.
have a good one.
Robert

You ROCK!

And thank you for being there as a guide. Will be bothering you with more questions in the near future :p

Cheers!

It should make sense now.
Thank you for reading the blog.
Have a great Thursday.
Robert

You did not need to give the intro. The blog was self-explanatory as to what led to it.
Cheers!

No probs, but thought I should explain.
