Sell Yourself To Sell Your Product
Hi Folks
Did you know that most people are born sellers? However I'm willing to wager that one of the first things that came to mind after you signed up to wealthy affiliate was the fear of creating and working with an actual home business. This is because you were having doubts whether you could sell or promote anything, or more importantly, selling yourself.
Most often, fears of selling yourself comes in several forms. Either we worry about not being liked, or being perceived as pushy. In business we would worry that our product or service might not perform as we say, or we struggle with the idea of rejection. Knowing the source of your fear is an important part of overcoming it.
Next it is important to take action to address the source. In this way, you are taking action to overcome your fear. In some cases, this might mean that you improve your product or service, or you can find ways to share your product/service in a way that feels more natural to you. You can also find ways to "bounce back" after rejection which is easier to do if you don't take "No" personally.
Start small. Very often, people tend to tackle projects much larger than they can comfortably handle. When you want to overcome your fear of selling you should start small. Maybe you will share your new business with a few trusted friends first and then gradually find ways to expand your sharing to include a larger circle. The most successful business people are those who interact with others in an real and passionate way. Find a way that feels comfortable with you and stay with it.
One other technique to overcome the fear of selling as you progress with your home business is to tap into your passion and enthusiasm for what you are offering.
Keep track of your successes by keeping a success journal nearby and record your achievements in it each day. This will help you stay aware of just how much you're doing right. We sometimes tend to forget this.
Have fun with it rather than approaching this from a "Have To" or "Doesn't Feel Good" perspective. Find a fun, interesting way to share your knowledge or passion.
It is also important to stay focused on your desired outcome. Most people take actions and reach their goals because they stay focused on the benefits of doing so. Sometimes, reminding yourself what you want, why you're doing this in the first place can help you take the next action and the next.
We all have fears and we need to learn how to overcome them.
Like any other business skill, "selling" gets easier the more you do it. So get out there, start small, banish your fear of selling your services and products and keep practicing!

I must overcome the fear of failure in writing long paragraphs.

One step at a time is always best and when you have doubts then you ask the other members for help.
Also if you write a short article and you believe it says all it needs to then that is perfectly ok but try to make it at least 500 words. and put in some images to flesh it out.

No worries Deanna, you will get there its just one step at a time as they say.
Fully understand one step before moving on to the next and when the doubts creep in then you reach out to the community for help and you WILL get it.

For me it’s a fear of being on video but I know it will make a difference in my business if I master that fear. This is great info, thanks for sharing

Lots of people don't like the camera but I think you mean video and a lot of people don't like that either.
Perhaps you should try an audio video first to get confidence speaking then try the full video later.

This is so true Robert, anytime I stay focus things happen. But most of the time I fail in being consistent.
After reading I identify my weakness is going after the big picture and taking projects that is a little to big for me to handle. Will do some adjustments now, thanks!

Hi there, Robert, it's been a while since I have run into one of your posts, they are always a joy to read.
They have always helped me move along on my ride here at WA. You are so right about fears and how to overcome them.
Since coming to WA and finding so many friends I have been able to overcome a lot of insecurities that have held me back especially in writing.
One of these ways that have helped me is by pondering how I am going to answer a post, Just wrote a post on this.
More Is Enough Without saying too much we can say a lot especially if we are passionate about what we write about I thinks I have come a long way since then. Nice to hear from your my friend from across the Ocean(O:

Still alive and kicking by the sounds of things though lol.
Yes we all have fears of some kind or another but how we cope with them is the problem that most people have.
Absolutely no point in ignoring them and hope they go away coz that just plain doesn't work.
You have to face them.
You have to find the source and deal with them first hand.
Most of the time when you actually know what the fear is you can do something about it.
Now its time I was off this machine and into a nice hot bath.
Its absolutely freezing here.
