Successful Online Entrepreneurs Work To A Schedule

Earlier this year I published a blog on having a schedule for your home business. Going by some of the question I've been asked over the weekend not many off you have taken heed of the tips and advice in that earlier blog.

This blog is my way of kicking your butts so take heed this time.

Regardless of who you are or how successful you are usually in life, it often seems as if there are just not enough hours in the day to get everything done. You might feel that as an entrepreneur, you will find it much easier to manage your time. In fact, you no longer have a lot of the usual tasks that are so hard to juggle.

But in fact, many entrepreneurs find time management even more difficult. Without the external structure of a normal 9 to 5 you're in sole charge of your own timetable. Its all too easy being overwhelmed and find yourself wasting time on unimportant details while the big picture spirals and becomes unmanageable.

Expect The Unforeseen

Effective time management is not just a matter of booking every minute of each and every day. While a schedule is important, you also need to be flexible. Lifestyle never goes according to plan and this is doubly true when you are trying to start out with an online business to make your own way in the world.

Leave time in your schedule for the unforeseen and the unexpected. If you fail to deal with interruptions or emergencies, your chances of success will be slim. You must leave enough room in your schedule so an unforeseen crisis or minor crisis does not throw everything off.

Outsourcing Tasks

Outsourcing tasks is not the same as delegating. You don't have to do everything yourself. You should learn how to outsource so as to stop doing the tasks that don't need you to be directly engaged with. If there are any menial tasks that could be handed over to another person, you can find non permanent help on sites such as, Upwork ( https://www.upwork.com/ ) or Freelancer ( http://www.freelancers.net/ ).

Create Sessions And Meetings

Somewhat than making a to-do list, try making meetings instead. A to-do list can easily become much longer and longer as you think of more and more things that need to be done.

Rather, for everything that needs to done, pick a time and make an appointment with yourself. In the morning, check your appointment book to see what your schedule is like for the day. When it's coming back to a particular task, give attention to only on that one task. Do not be swayed even if there are other things that need to be done. You need to develop the discipline to focus on one thing at a time.

Start Every Day With Your Schedule

When you wake up in the morning, the essential thing that you should do is not get straight to work. You need to give yourself some time to go over your timetable for the day. If you never allow yourself to do this you will quickly find that time is slipping further and further away from you.

During this period, look go back over the previous day and see what you achieved. Take a look at your appointment book to see what plans you have made. Make any needed adjustments at this point so as to dive right into are soon as the booking period has ended.

Interruptions Are Time Wasters

In this modern-day always-on-the-go world, its easy to fall into the trap of thinking that everything requires immediate attention. Simply because you get a phone call or an e-mail, this does not mean that you have to drop everything and respond to it right away. Sometimes, you have to be able to tune out the world and give attention to what is in front of you.

As a business person, you need to be able to spend the required time and energy to your brand-new business. This means that everyone else in your life needs to respect your need for this time. When you are hard at work, make it clear to people you are not to be interrupted. Placing a "Do Not Disturb" sign or the electronic comparative, can really help.

Beginning a new business needs a lot of energy, so that you need to work on your time and efforts management skills. You only have 24 hours in the day so you need to make the best of each and every one.

I hope this updated version of that previous blog helps you out and you will now go on to manage your time more effectively.

Please leave a comment below with any ideas or unique ways that you manage your time building and running your own home business.

Enjoy your week people.

Love this! Thanks.

Emma with two boys you definetly need to have a timetable.
I know this might be difficult but best you have one in the long run.
Thank you for taking the time to drop by.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
Robert

For sure! If it isn't in my weekly plan - it doesn't get done. 2 boys, 2 businesses, an energetic dog and a house to keep... Planned to the last second. Im not always that great at staying on plan though particularly when Ive had little sleep - so posts like this are great motivation.

Happy to help out in my own small way.
Now you get your feet up.
As for me.
A hot bath has my name on it.
Catch you some other time.

Now I have to ask - Do You Have A Schedule?
Have a great Monday but right now I'm off as its getting late.
Goodnight.
Robert

I do have a schedule. Right now I work full time and then I am working on WA on a part time basis- 2-3hr on week ends and try to squeeze in 1-2 hr every other night week nights.

No Probs Mary.
You do whats best for you and fits into your work day.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
Robert

Great advice, thanks, my friend.

No probs Mike and hope you are not one of those members who ignores good advice when they see it.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
Robert

No, when I take in good advice I save even it is for reference down the road.

good man, I don't discard any advice until I have investigated it thoroughly.
Robert

Spot-on Robert! Being an entrepreneur means you have a business. Therefore, it should be treated like a business.

There is an old saying, "If you treat it casually, you will be a casualty."

Les Brown said it a little differently, "If you are casual about your dream, you will end up a casualty."

Spot on Glen and believe me I have seen a lot of casualties in the 2 years I've been here.
People just will not listen to good advice.
So hell mend them as my old granny used to say lol.
Thank you for your comment and enjoy your Monday.
I'm off now as its getting late.
Robert
