How Good Is Your Landing Page?

Hi people, my blog for the weekend.

I have had 3 newbies asking me today about Landing Pages. So to start of this blog -

What do you think your landing page says to your visitors?

How do you think it comes across to them?

Is it eye-catching?

Does it promise or give the impression that they are going to find what they are looking for?

In other words what is it telling them right from the word go!

Bonus Landing Page Conversion Rate Tips

Here are a few final things you should also consider:

When you do make changes to your site, make sure you test one major thing at a time, i.e. redesign, layout, headline etc. (If you change too many things at once, some of the changes might have improved conversion rate while others didn’t, and you won’t know what worked and what didn’t.)

You want to reach statistical significance with at least a 95% confidence level. (To be on the safe side, make sure your increase in conversions is actually from the change you made, not some external reason you can’t control, like seasonal variance.

Never Stop Testing

Sometimes it can take weeks, even months before you reach a significant result.

Remember that getting the sale doesn’t end on the landing page. Look at your approach in terms of how you talk and communicate, and mystery shop your competition and your own employees if you outsource. Even if you have a 42% lead generating conversion rate on your landing page, your real conversion rate could be much lower when it comes to actually sealing the deal.

Ok people there you have it. Now get over to your own landing page and see if you can improve on it.

Have a nice day and please leave a comment on this blog or what you think of your own landing page.

I’m sure the other readers will be as interested as I will.

PS

Someone asked me what the difference between a Landing Page and squeeze Page is so here’s a simple explanation.

A squeeze page is more or less an opt in page
It’s a page that has a sign up box or sign up form on it where people enter their information, name and email address for more info or a free item, ebook or report etc.

On the other hand a landing page is a page that opens as a result of clicking on an ad such as a PPC Ad in Google. The landing page then sends the visitor to the main site after letting them see their sales pitch.

Hello Clarie and thank you for the comment.
I don't see your name on one of my recent blogs so here's is the link.
I think this blog on Landing Pages and the content of this other blog go hand in hand so you should go read it. This is a very handy tool.
Have anice day.
Robert

Great information and very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Sunny

No probs and glad to help out.
Have a great day and thank you for your comment.
Robert

Robert, what is the difference between a landing page and a squeeze page, I have heard it mentioned on the internet but not sure of the difference. I have done one, and I think it is a squeeze page, lol. :))

Hi Jewel

Here is a simple explanation just for you.

Hope this helps you out.

Have a nice evening in Singapore.
Robert

Wow, that is a great explanation, so can I say, a landing page should be longer than a squeeze page? Thanks so much for always helping, Robert. :))

No probs Jewel. I put the explanation at the bottom of my blog so other people can see it as well.
Enjoy the rest of your sunday.
Robert

Thanks for taking the time to put these suggestions together for usl
Sami

No probs sami. Make it simple is what I strive for.
Thank you for your comment.

The term "landing page" generates a lot of confusion depending on the context in which it's being used. I like the definition at the unbounce site:

"In the purest sense, a landing page is any web page that a visitor can arrive at or “land” on. However, when discussing landing pages within the realm of marketing and advertising, it’s more common to refer to a landing page as being a standalone web page distinct from your main website that has been designed for a single focused objective.

This means that your landing page should have no global navigation to tie it to your primary website. The main reason for this is to limit the options available to your visitors, helping to guide them toward your intended conversion goal."

The article goes on to describe two types of landing pages: click-through and lead-capture.

Thanks for that Bob..and the link, very interesting.

Thank you for your reply. I agree with what you are saying but I make my explanations as simple as I can because the majority of the members who read my blogs are newbies and want a simple answer.
I usually give them examples and not a full blown explanation that is surely going to confuse them even more than they are already.
Have a nice day.
Robert

One more good article. Thanks Robert for sharing. I don't have any idea whether my landing page is good or not. I think it's not so bad, but perhaps other people don't think so. Would you like to have a look at my site, Robert? Here is my site www.mywealthyworld.com

Have a great weekend, Hayu

Hello Hayu. I'm sure your landing page will be ok but are you sure you can call it such?
I will tell you what I think asap.
Have a nice evening.
Robert

Hello again Hayu. Nothing wrong with your landing Page.
You do know you do not have your website protected.
I'm sure I have told you this before.
Anyway not having it protected means anyone can copy and all of the text content of your site and use it for themselve.
Same for your pics and images.
Robert

Hello Robert, thanks for reminding me to protect my site. I was just install wp security plugin for my site protection. I hope it will work.

Regards, Hayu

Hello Hayu.
Just visited your site and it is not protected yet.
Robert

Hey Robert. Yesterday I installed WP security plugin to protect my website but now I get a problem, I cannot publish a new post. I think the problem comes from the new plugin. So I have deleted, but still I cannot publish my new post. Can you help me please? What should I do?

Regards, Hayu

Hello Hayu. I would delete the plugin completely from your wordpress.
It might not be compatible with your theme.

By the way I read Kyles reply to this and he said that your site does not need protection because WA protects them. This is correct if you have a Site Rubix website but once you publish a website with your own domain then it is out there on the internet on its own and subject to all sorts of problems so it is best to use a site protection plugin for it.
I would install one that you find is compatible with the theme you are using.

If you still cannot publish your post then perhaps you need to clear your DNS cache.
This is a video that will show you how to do this. Have a nice day.
Robert

Thank you Robert for that food for thought!

Thank you for your comment and at least think about a Landing page for your own site.
Have a nice day.
Robert

Oh look I have read yet another!

Hello Helen. Read another what?
Hope its another one of my blogs lol.
Thank you for your comment and have an excellent evening.
Robert

I read so many of your blogs and TJ Books I got you mixed up. But don't worry I have read yours too!

No Probs. Its got to be an age thing lol
Have a nice day.
Robert

Yep I get older by the second.

It must be past your bedtime and you're still at it.
Burning the candle at both ends perhaps?
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Robert

Like what you have wrote!

Excellent stuff. But do I have a convert to Landing Pages lol

Thank you for your comment and have a nice day.
Robert

Mark

Hi Robert

When I saw the headline of your blog I wasn't sure if you were asking if landing pages were a good or bad idea or that if the landing pages we had were themselves good ones or bad ones?

I asked this question below a few weeks because it seemed to me that landing or squeeze pages didn't seem to feature much in WA land. Robert (boomergp08) wasn't at all sure about the timing of us newbies having one but from your blog it seems you are in the pro corner. Would that be right?

Cheers Robert
Mark

Perhaps I should have titled the blog - Are Your Landing Pages Good Or Bad.

I wanted members to put their thinking cap on regarding a landing page if they have one or are thinking about creating one.

I believe that a landing page is a must simply because this where you can capture the visitors attention and lead them on to your advertising pages.

So is your landing page - Good Or bad?
Thank you for your comment and have an excellent day.
Robert

Don't have one yet Robert, but I expect it will be part of my online arsenal very soon.

Out of interest, how or where would you incorporate one in relation to our WA affiliate link "landing page", in front of it with a web form incorporated or in a completely different marketing structure like a separate funnel?

Thanks
Mark

Personally - a separate funnel.
The tried and tested method though is to integrate a landing page with the website or another of your sites that will have all the relevant info.
Rather like a squeeze page or a Squido Lens.
Robert

Thanks Robert, well worth knowing.
Mark

No Probs Mark and if you want to know the difference between a Landing Page and Squeeze Page, read the reply I gave to Jewel.
Thanks for the comment.
