The Proof Of The Pudding... Is In The E-Mail

Hi Folks

I want to tell you about a couple of e-mails I received today.

The first one made me very curious simply because of its length - it was very short, but offered to 'make you one million dollars within two months'.

Now, as you can imagine, and probably like yourself, I receive quite a few of these communications on a weekly/monthly. I personally like a little more detail before I say either 'send me some more information' or 'thanks, but no thanks'.

But, because this was so short... I was prompted into a reply. I don’t know if this was deliberate or whether it was just lazy on the part of sender. Anyway, it worked... and I replied.

The reply amazed me, it simply said... 'I can make you one million dollars within 2 months, we have to meet'.

Well, by now I was extremely suspicious, and I hadn't yet received a response to my e-mail which simply read 'Have you actually made this money yourself?'

Which brings me onto the point of proof.

Although I come into contact with people with amazing ideas, if I can't make them work for myself... or in the time that people claim that it's possible, then I simply can’t say 'this works', and recommend it to anyone.

Proof is an incredibly powerful marketing tool that simply must be included in order to succeed.

For example, a WA member sent me a PM at the weekend who has created an amazing health product. I have suggested to them that the headline of their article should be immediately followed by a testimonial, such as 'I was suffering with x, until I found y'.

As far as I'm concerned its Incredibly powerful, and yet so simple.

Moving on...

The second e-mail about was someone asking whether they could build a home business with wealthy affiliate themselves.

The e-mail was a list of questions that, to me, read like excuses... One of which was 'Im not an entrepreneur and don’t believe that I have the skills required to do this, what do I need to do?'

I thought about this for quite some time because I didn't want to give a standard text-book response. I answered all of the initial questions with examples of people that I've worked with, or from my own personal experience.

Then, I replied with the following:

An entrepreneur is someone that is prepared to invest five dollars to make twenty knowing that the worst case scenario will be that he/she will get the five dollars back.

Now, to explain this... I went on to say that if you haven't researched a particular market, or a product, you would only be guessing - rather like the average gambler who bets on horses.

However, if you knew all there was to know, and you’d run some tests of your own, you’d be pretty sure that your small investment was going to return you a profit.

To continue with the analogy of a gambler, this time you'd be a professional gambler - that has spent most of the morning going through the form guide to pick what you believed are the horses to put your money on.

So folks, my online business tips are proof and preparation, two really powerful tools when creating a home business through internet marketing.

Take care and be successful.

Your posts are always very interesting, I've became a fan, Lol.

The person who sent you a short email is an interesting one.
I believe it's a scam, however, this method can be use in a different manner.

Let's assume we send a similar email with few questions and let the readers know we will get back to them soon.

Few days later we send another email showing the results. Depending on the results, we can show to people it was a scam and how to avoid it in the future.

I see a lot of scammers, in fact their methods are very similar and they are too aggressive to me, they never stop sending you an email, explaining it's your last chance to jump in.

I saw that from the Clickbank University also, I saw their presentation, it was pretty good and I have to admit I was hook.
However, after reading few reviews, I concluded it wasn't good for me.

Since then, they never stop sending me email, not everyday but, pretty often.

Coming from a well known company like Clickbank it's disappointing. It shows how much these companies only care about money.

Hello Calvin and thank you for taking the time to read my blog and for your input via your comment.
Over the years I have encountered many scams and I must admit when I first started out I fell foul of a few and lost money in the process.
Now I'm older and dare I say a little bit more wiser I like to believe I can spot them and give them short shrift.

Clickbank is in the business to make money and like all big companies online or off line that is their top priority.

I'm afraid its down to the individual whether they want to do business with them and if they do then they have to take the good with the bad in their dealings with them.

Thanks again for your input and hope your Tuesday is going as well as you expected it to go.

You are absolutely right, Robert, proof is very powerful. This combined with hard work, or preparation, is an unbeatable team.

Would have been interesting to see how that email scam would have unfolded if you had answered 'yes, let's meet'.

Hi Sammy and it looks like you're the only one to leave a comment so thank you for taking time out to do that.

I'm too long in the tooth to fall those type of emails Sammy so anyone who says lets meet and discuss the opportunity usually gets the old heave ho.

Saying that I have met up with two WA members from the USA here in Edinburgh. In fact one of them is still here and we will meet up again on Friday before they go home.

I also meet up with members who live here in Scotland and one of them only lives 5 miles from where I live.

As for Proof and Preparation, you are so right.
You have to provide one and do your due diligence with the other.

Hope your Wednesday turns out the way you want it Sammy.
Robert

Thank you Robert, and enoy the meetup on Friday.
Sammy

She's a nice lady from New York and we get on great guns but she can hardly understand my broad Scottish Accent lol.
I give her a few tips and advice on what and what not to do regarding her own online efforts.
Have a good one.
Robert

Lucky lady - and you can always try to speak RP, Robert...

Sorry Sammy I don't know what you mean by RP

Oh, sorry Robert, it means Received Pronunciation.

I can speak 'Proper' english its just that when I'm out on the street I lapse into broad Scots.
I talk the way I have since childhood surrounded by people who spoke this way so its kinda hard to change and I really don't want to coz its part of who I am.

Now I'm off for the night.
Catch you another day.
Robert
