Why Should You Create Great Headlines

Hi Folks

How do you grab site visitors attention from the word Go?

With a great Headline of course!

Although not all of the time, the biggest majority of Site URLs that catch my attention are usually the headline of the article/blog or review as well. Therefore headlines are really important for getting your audiences’ attention. Even if only a couple of people read the article, all of them will read the headline. If they don’t like it, then they wont even bother reading your article anyway.

A lot of the time I spend more time trying to create a great headline than I do writing the article. As far as I'm concerned this is perfectly ok because as I say above, without that great headline they aren't going to read much, if any of it anyway.

Why? Because about eighty percent of readers never get past the headline!

When you create great headlines that have the potential to go viral, you stand a pretty good chance of getting more than twenty percent of those who see them to actually click on them and read your content too.

As you know, traffic attracts more traffic. Plus, if you share them on Social Media sites you could even get a couple of leads from that great headline!

There you have it folks. Great headlines can and will generate traffic.

Anyone with any more ideas about Headlines please leave them via a comment below.

Here is the tool I use

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see the Headline Analyser listed to the right.

The link says page not found...

Hi Katie.
I Can't understand why CoSchedule moved the tool but you will have noticed the link doesnt show it and the link is to the home page instead.
But to save any more confusion I have changed the link to the home page.
Just scrolll down and you will see the Headline Analyser listed under resources over to the right.
Thank you for reading my blog and hope you have a great Thursday.
Robert

Thanks for the update Robert, I'll check that out!

No probs, have a good one.

It is a good idea as most of the folks go with a keyword in HL and what to be said as not paying attention to the grammer. Down the blog the one that is shown on google must be 70 characters HL otherwise it shows red there.

Hello Shahid and thank you for your comment.
It is a good idea to include your Keyword in the headline and in the first paragraph as well.
I have published blogs on how to use keywords as well so perhaps you can browse those when you have the time.

There are many ways ti generate a good attention getting headline Robert. They are doing their job if they successfully get you into the next major step of the copy letter...the lead!

Hi Mkie and thank you for your comment and input.
Good headlines and equally good copy will get you readers and of course traffic begets traffic and leads are sure to follow.

Thank you Robert. Be safe up there in the highlands!

Especially out walking wearing the kilt lol

Should the headline have your focus keyword in it? If so it's pretty hard to come up with a catchy attention grabbing headline.

I agree!

Hello Nigel and thank you for your comment.
The boittom graphic does give you a few pointers to creating a good headline and Keyword is mentioned so why not use your best one.

Ok perfect thanks Robert, this is great! Have a great Thursday as well.

No probs dawna and if you use the other one I gave a link to you really can get a great headline.
I personally have got close to 200% for a score.
Also if you try what turns out to be a great headline with a top score you can try it in the free WA Keyword Tool and sometimes the headline turns out to be a great keyword phrase as well with low QSR and high volume traffic.
Have a good one.
Robert

Remember you have to work with that second analyser.

For example if you type in -
powerful and proven opportunity

you will get 100%

but if you substitute the word and like so -

powerful free proven opportunity

it jumps to 125%

Get the idea?

work with it.

Have fun.
Robert

Thank, Robert, for sharing.

No probs Nelson and thank you for your comment.

Hi Robert! I'm always interested in making my articles more interesting--especially the headlines. I completely agree with you because I know it to be true of myself. I usually don't go beyond the headline unless it grabs me. I just clicked on your link but I got a "page not found." I'd love to check out your recommendation! Alanna

Without a great headline, you usually don't have an audience. Excellent post, Robert!

Hi Kaju
Yes indeed headlines are important and people should take more time creating them.
Get their thinking caps on that's for sure because even if you write the best article in the world it wont get read if the headlines isn't great as well.

Great post, another great resource for creating headlines is a book called Words That Sell by Richard Bayan

I have a copy of Words That Sell, by Richard Bayan! It's an excellent resource for finding words of influence, with a quick crash course in copywriting.

Hi Leo
Thank you for your input, I'm sure a few of the readers will look the book up.
