I Climbed Mt. Everest

A sense of relief, joy and exhilaration ran through my body. I CLIMBED MT. EVEREST.

Well it was my own version of Mt. Everest at any rate. I built up this task in my head as something that was extremely challenging, something that I absolutely wasn't prepared to do. I had no training, no experience but just a desire to get it done.

That desire had a hard time translating into action though. But i guess when my back was up against the wall I had no choice but to face it. Like the saying goes, to get to the other side sometimes you can't go over or under what's in your way, you have to go through it.

And go through I did. The task is now complete. I am at the summit and I look down. I am ashamed at what I see.

I didn't climb Everest! I made a mountain out of a molehill!

What seemed like an almost insurmountable task was really just an exercise in preparation, in learning something new.

Once I became familiar with the territory, acclimatized to the environment and learned the tricks of the trade, it was much easier.

The rhythm began to flow smoothly and things started falling into place. I can't even remember what I was making a fuss about.

I am going to wear my heart on my sleeve here and tell you guys my Everest was a plugin I've been hesitating to start working with. I know I needed to get it done but for some reason I felt a bit overwhelmed.

I put my big girl panties on today and said enough was enough. And now I am laughing at myself and pretty ashamed that I thought it was difficult.

I am sure lots of you have a similar story so don't leave me out here all alone. What's your "Mt Everest" story?

I'm sure we can all use a good laugh.

Hi Roberta. Well done. Thank you for sharing. You are not alone in this regard.

It happens to me all the time when I am in unfamiliar territory, especially in things which have to do with the Internet.

I can relate to feeling like: “What was that all about?” once I get something right eventually.

We're not alone Thokozile ... lol. Good thing is we have a community full of support here. In my case I just need to stop being stubborn sometimes and reach out for some assistance.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me

Hi Roberta. Nice article that rings bells with me. Nothing specific that springs to mind immediately, but it is indeed surprising how simple things can sometimes be but we overthink them and build them up in our minds to become fearful of them. Sometimes you do need to throw caution to the wind. We are then surprised how liberating that can actually be.

Perfectly said Ian. We do create our own fears sometimes. Here's to shattering them each and every time!!

Thanks for popping in, I always appreciate hearing from you.

Well done Roberta!

Amazing!

I tend to make more mistakes than the national a average, I run on the theory that I am never going to break the internet so the best bet is to dive on in.

Such a cool feeling when we pull it off though, makes the next time much more easier.

Well done, Roberta.

That response cracked me up Alex but it's so very true ... I am never gonna break the internet either so I should just dive in ... lolol

Thanks for sharing those words of wisdom
