Hey all, I just got my website set up and its not allowing me to access my page no will it even bring me to the sign in page...it say's:

server cannot be found

It's possible that your own ISP has cached the DNS of the site as it's being built. If other Members can "see" your site but you can't or you can on your phone under 3G (not the same wifi network) then that's what's happened. It's possible to try and flush the DNS but in truth, it will resolve itself within 12 hours as your ISPs cache updates. If you still can't access it after 12 hours, then open a hosting Support Ticket on the blue bar in Websites & Hosting. :) Rich.

Try these steps. From the left side Dashboard click: Build My Website Box and then see if your site is listed there that you created. If it is, look to the right and there should be the word DETAIL Click this and it should show you your username and password, plus it will show you the website location and the admin location. The first think you want to do here is highlight your password, right click and copy it. Then click the admin location, and the sign up should come up. Type your username: ADMIN -and then click in the password box and right click and hit paste. This will put your password you copied in and then hit submit. This should bring up the Wordpress Admin side of your site. At the top there is a dark grey bar and to the left on this bar you should see what you named your site. Click on this and a menu will come down, and you should be able to click view. Hopefully this helps. If not, let me know.

Correction- Click View is actually = Visit Site

Hey KM, so yes my website is there and I followed your steps but still not luck...the sign in page isn't loading period...hmmm I seen another person is having the same problem..

You might want to try copying your password again and make sure you are only copying the 8 letters - and make sure you don't pick up any space after the last letter. Also, when typing in the username make sure you use: admin ( in lower case letters) Try it again and let me know what happens.

So have have tired multiple things. I am not sure whats going on but I am going to give it a rest for now and hope that in the morning I have better success. Thanks so Much KM for the help!

If you find out you can't get into your site tomorrow, you might want to send Kyle a direct message and ask him if he can help you.

Hi All!

My names Becca and I'm feeling a little lost. I have NEVER created a website nor do I have ANY experience working online(expect using social networks e-mail) and I

Hi Bec, good to see you have progressed in your lessons to the part about creating your own website. Beverley has given you some excellent advice.

As for your domain name, first decide your niche - will it be yoga, or meditation or at home mom. Only then can you focus on a name. You must know your topic, target market and the purpose of your website before you name it.. If your goals are fuzzy, your choice of name might be too.

I have a post on my blog with tips for choosing the right domain name that might help you.

Thanks Jude! Yes i have decided to focus on yoga. My domain name is enjoyyogawithkids.siterubix.com the name of my page Yoga for Everyone. I am going to tell people about why yoga has helped me and my family, and how I will continue to grow.. is that jeading i the right direction? Thanks Jude!

Absolutely, Bec, it is the right direction, and a good domain name with lots of possibilities. Well done. ~ Jude

Call me crazy but I recommend using your own name as your domain name if you can get it. If not then your name with a keyword. Always get a .COM period. Promote WA. Go to Adland Pro and start posting ads. Read the ones there to learn how to write yours. I own kendamon.com so you can see I practice what I preach.

Thanks a bunch!! I've still be pondering on a domain...I'm going to try my name. Thanks for the link it helps me to see what other are doing. I am a very visual learner. Thanks again!

Hi Becca. Welcome to WA. Don't worry about your lack of experience - 99% of people arrive knowing nothing. You'll soon get to grips with it all if you keep following the training.

It's much easier to create a website about something that you're really passionate about - because you will find it easier to write content for you site.

Any of the niches that you have mentioned above would work.

Don't spend loads of time worrying about the 'perfect' name. It's the content of your website that will drive traffic not the domain name.

Hope that helps.

Beverley

Hey Beverley! That did help thanks! So now I'm wondering what do you mean "write about the content of your site"? Could I possibly look at your site to get an idea of what ending products look like?

Welcome to WA and welcome to where we all were when we started. I think you have some great niche ideas: yoga, meditation, mom. All can be monetized when you are ready and then you have answered your other question...these can become your business.

Select a name for your site that is brandable, memorable, and that even that is related to your niche. It will be your content, however, that gets you ranked as you continue to add to your site. Maybe something like "moms and kids yoga" or something similar that makes sense.

Thanks Rick! That is some great advice!
