I see this question getting asked a lot about Google Analytics and Google adsense.
To post the verification code to your website...
What I did is made a child theme of my current theme by copying the theme folder to a new folder and renaming it Parent_Theme_Name-Child. This will allow you to modify the themes files without them getting wiped out by an update.
I then opened the header.php file of the child theme and pasted the adsense code between the <head> and </head> tags.
From your wordpress dashboard, go to appearance, themes and activate the Parent_Theme_Name-Child theme!
You will need ftp access to your wordpress files on the server.
THE OTHER OPTION is to use a plugin like "Insert Headers and Footers", Activate it, then post the code in the header section of that plugin.

Is it wise to add links that are references as opposed to monetized links for educational reasons? Ex: http://activitycalc.com/ to determine how many calories you burn walking
It is always better to have less affiliate links or other websites links as far as possible. But, that doesn't mean it will harm too much if you post several other websites links as reference, ya but too many referral/affiliate links can harm the ranking. So, the thumb rule is more less, more good. But if you can provide link of your one page to another page of same website and interlink each other, that will add more value to the content.

If you don't have a lot of affiliate links, then use affiliate link. If you already have a few affiliate links, then minimize and just use a reference link.
So if I understand you correctly stay away from using reference links and keep it to a minimum? One or two perhaps?

Sorry, it's the opposite. Stay away from using too many AFFILIATE links. Depending on how many words are in your post. You could have 3-4 affiliate links in a 1000 word post.
Huh, Kyle had about 5 in his lesson in course 3, ok so that's a good rule of thumb to follow. Thanks for the clarification.

Can I place some sample workout routines from the book on my site?
If the content of that book hasn't been published online yet, then you can sure copy from that. But if that has been already published, and you again put that in your website, then that will be mark as duplicate content. So, search in Google first of all that has been already use by other websites or not.
It should be alright to give some sample workout routine as long as you give the credit and source.
Example : this work out is from Men's Health By Author's name then the workout that way you are covered.
