What I Found Posting Once a Month
So... I joined in July 2016 and am just now finishing up level 2 training. I know what most would be thinking and that is that I am slower than a snail!!!
Fair enough but keep in mind that I am raising twin girls and know nothing about online marketing or babies. So, I do what I can when I can. My babies are still alive and the doctors say they are in good health!
So what about my new website and online marketing experience!? I think it goes without saying that my number 1 priority is ... raising my babies but I still want to make my online marketing story a success as well.
My 1st website is called fantasybooks4u.com with a goal of helping fantasy book fans find other good series based on similar tastes.
Now that you know some background details I would like to share my successes based on the limited amount of time that I have been able to dedicate to it.
Post Frequency and Resulting Site Health
Since starting last July I have created 5 pages 4 posts and received 14 comments on 1 post. Admittedly, my 5 pages have not been completely polished off and/or "finished" yet but the fundamental framework has been established and continues to be a work in progress.
Since my 1st post I have been doing my best to at least get 1 post out a month. Now, I know this is not ideal but I figured I had to start somewhere and even that is not as easy to accomplish as I would have hoped.
On average, these posts have ranged in length from approximately 800 words to 1980 words. When I 1st started writing I was doing my best to write posts of roughly 2000 since my initial research suggested this to be the ultimate goal.
Continued research suggested this was not as important as I originally thought and readability is king. This was great to hear in light of the fact that I have limited time to invest.
So, what does this activity do for you and your website's health? Below is a screenshot which shows my site health for the described website activity above:
It turns out this was not a straightforward question or a simple question. Clearly, the more you post the better. Although, you also want to be sure that they are quality posts. Ultimately, I wanted to know what posting at my frequency would do for me.
Google searches did not answer this so well and I decided to draw my conclusion from empirical evidence.
So... Here it is!
If you can only manage to post approximately once a month then you can expect to get a site health score of approximately 10% for publishing frequency.
This sounds terrible but at least now I know and since I am sharing my experience everyone else can learn from my experience as well.
Lesson Learned
What I learned from this is that I need to make some changes to my current approach. Within the next 3 months I plan to try to increase my posting frequency to approximately 2 times per month.
I do not think this will be as easy for me as I would hope but I would like to see how this impacts my site health. My hope is that I do not need to post multiple times per week to achieve a 100% score in the publishing frequency category for site health.
Within the next 6 months I am hoping to be able to start the money making process. I don't expect to get rich but I do want to see how the full process works and I would like to be able to start to offset some of the business costs with some cash flow.
Also, speaking of offsetting business costs... I would like to do my best to get some active referrals. I'm not certain the best approach of doing so but I will try some things and see what, if anything, works for me.
Don't worry, I will share what I find in this venture even if I find that nothing I try works ;)
Do you have a good method for offsetting business costs? Do you have a good method for acquiring quality active referrals? Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!!!
Thanks for stopping by ;)

If you can increase your publishing frequency, you will find a much better result. Try for one a week. If you find that is doable ultimately 2-3 a week is best. They don't all need to be book length sometimes a short one will get you there.
Thank you very much for the advice!! I am doing my best to make it to once a week so that is good to hear. For some reason I do get concerned about the posts being too short and it is good to hear they don't all have to be super long.
If I could get a babysitter this would all go quicker lol
Thanks again !!!
