SiteRubix from Wealthy Affiliate is the best place for a free website. I have tried many other platforms offering free websites, but could not find anything coming close to what Wealthy Affiliate offers.

In my opinion the main reasons why using Wealthy Affiliate for your free website, is the excellent community support and the SiteContent writing platform. There are a few other benefits as well.

Why Create a Free Website?

Creating a free website is an excellent choice for newbie website builders. It is also a great choice if you have a Zero budget.

I personally love to create free websites to experiment with different niche ideas. If I don't like it, I just remove it and try something new. I also use free websites to test my WordPress themes and plugins, just in case it messes up my main website.

It is also a good choice if you want to create a personal portfolio online for your resume. You can include the link from your web page on your resume and even your LinkedIn account.

Benefits of a Free Website

In general free websites have a few benefits across most platforms:

• You don't need to pay for a domain.
• You don't need to pay for hosting.
• You can get your website up and running within a few clicks.

Disadvantages of a Free Website

Unfortunately Free Websites do have disadvantages and I feel you should be aware of these before you make any decisions. This is true to all platforms offering free website hosting.

1. You will not own your domain name and it will be a subdomain. Instead of mywebsite .com it will be mywebsite.siterubix .com. You cannot lay claim to it at all.
2. You cannot take your website with you if you want to change hosts. This means if you do not want to use Wealthy Affiliate anymore, you have to create a completely new website. .
3. Free websites are not that popular with the search engines. It is not impossible, but very difficult to get ranked on the first page of search engines with a subdomain name. Keep in mind organic traffic (first page of Google) is not the only way to get traffic to your website. Sharing your link on social media and email is an excellent way to draw people to your website.
4. Your website do not have a Site SSL certificate (Website Encryption)
5. No technical support is available for free websites. If you break it, you have a problem!
6. No backups are available for your free website (You can backup your pages and posts to for example MSWord - my recommendation).

Would I Recommend a FREE Website?

Yes, definitely, but only if you want to use it for the following reasons:

1. When you start out and still need to find your feet around the whole website building idea.
2. If you want to create an online portfolio page to accompany your resume.
3. You are not too serious about creating a brand and online business or you just starting out. You can always transfer it at a later stage to your own domain name when you are more comfortable.
4. If you want to create a small business page with basic information. Great idea if you register your local business on Google maps and you do not have a website or the budget for your own domain and hosting. It is not a requirement to have a website for Google maps, but it cannot do any harm. It promotes better customer interaction and build trust.

Are there any other reasons when it is a good idea to create a free website or maybe not a good idea.
