New Beginnings - Learning From My Mistakes

I have taken a break from WA for a couple of months. I have created my WA bootcamp website where I promoted WA and other products, but realised this is taking up a lot of my time on a niche I feel half hearted about.

Don't get me wrong, I do not mind promoting WA at all and believe it is a great product. The only problem is I have other interests that are closer to my heart. I would rather promote that. I have a full time job and my time is limited.

Today I am starting my new niche with a new website. This time around I am going with a siterubix website first. I will only get my own domain when I finish with the Certification Course and have a decent amount of content to my website.

Learning From My Mistakes

These are just my personal views. Other people may feel different and have other experiences.

  1. Begin with Siterubix instead of getting your own domain immediately. Iron out problems first and understand the complete process. Choosing a domain name is very important. You do not need a keyword in your domain name!!!. Branding your website with your domain name is more important. It should be short and you should "own it".
  2. I have to forget about the money for now if I want to do the above. Sub-domains do not rank that easily or take much longer to rank on the 1st page of Google. But with all that said, ranking on the 1st page of Google is not the only way to get traffic to your website.
  3. There are only so many hours in the day. Choose wisely what you want to do with it when it comes to creating your website.
  4. I am not going to try to be perfect. It wastes time. My niche will be about personal experiences and I do not need to do tons of research on topics because I already know what I want to say. When the time comes for selling products online, it will be a different story thou.
  5. My website and its content is mine to do whatever I feel like. The aim is for people to relate and want to read my content. It must be informative, interesting and helpful firstly and if they want to buy a product I promote it will be a bonus. I am not into sales. It is not my strong point in life and I don't think it will be any better on my website :).

Thanks

Rika

Hello Rika. Nice to have you back. Must feel very good to know where you want to go. Is the website you are talking about the one on travel?

Thanks Linda. Yes it is the Amarik website.

Hi Rika
Thanks for sharing. Yes, the relationship comes first, selling later.

Thanks Roy. I cannot agree more.

These promotional sites are probably best utilized around Black Friday!

hi rika, thanks for the post - i had the same problem
started promoting wa but wasn't really passionate about it.
still thinking about ideas to promote it but have almost moved on to 3d printing.
i like the idea of your site - one point is that coming onto your site i don't know where you are talking about!!
could you put a map of the part of the world you are blogging about in the top header - as you say it's bold colours
the time you spent on the other site is not wasted - you learned about keyword research, how to write a post and try to get it ranked.
my site is a subdomain and i can get posts onto page 2 so a subdomain can be used
good luck with your new site and use your time wisely
phil

Thanks Phillip. I will put a map of the area in the header. Thank you for the feedback:)

thanks for sharing!

Thanks for having a look at my post Karin:)

My Grandfather from Thomasville, Georgia, always took great pain to remind me that "a wise person learns from others' mistakes...a fool scarcely by his owm." ...I rather liked that...

It is very true Arthur. Thanks for your reply:)

Thanks for sharing, Rika.

Hi Rika .. I started with a WA site and felt the same way that you do. I still have the WA site but I not adding to it at this point. I am focusing on my Niche instead. I am one of the people who prefers a brandable domain to a key word rich domain. With your site, I tend to agree with Paul, I would tone it down a bit if it were mine. All the best. Cheers, William.

Thanks for your reply Wiliam. Much appreciated.

Interesting tips and ideas to consider.

Thanks Alexandra :)

Well is a touch to bold I think and so you tend to lose the menus

all topics in the menus are great

Thank you Paul for the insight :)

Just my humble opinion
