The Stuff of Champions.

If you have little or no interest in winter sports, then I can only apologise for this post. But I promise there is a point about perseverance, your own business and achieving goals.

Anyhow…

Do you remember back in 2010 when legendary snowboarder Shaun White pulled off a mind-bending, gravity-defying combination of spins, flips and grabs to take Gold in the half-pipe?

Or how about the 1994 Lillehammer games, when American speed skater Dan Jensen defied all the odds and took gold despite all the heartbreak, failure and cruelty that came before?

I can remember the 1988 Calgary games, the year of both Eddie the Eagle Edwards and the Jamaican bobsled team.

The Winter Olympics has a rich history of epic, unforgettable, inspirational moments, and as viewers, we get to watch the brief moments of these athletes’ lives in which they take centre stage and then bask in the golden glory.

What often goes unseen, however, is the blood, sweat, tears and frustration that comes beforehand.

Just think of all the times Shaun White must have fallen flat on his rear to learn those tricks.

Dan Jensen’s sister died of leukaemia just hours before his race at the 1988 games. He was the favourite to win, but from tragedy came more tragedy; he crashed eight seconds into the race, and then at his next event, he crashed again when he was moments from victory.

As for the Eddie the Eagle and Jamaican bobsled team… well, I could talk about them for hours, but their stories have been pretty well covered in the movies.

The point is of course that behind every moment of sporting success are countless hours of hard work, crippling hardships, and outright failures. And so it is with the world of affiliate marketing.

Exactly what your moment of glory looks like is unique, but whatever it is, it takes time, work and determination. Real, tangible targets, simply don't happen overnight.

You’ve got to put the hours in and grind. You’ve got to make mistakes so you can learn from them. You’ve got wade through the mire to get to your gold.

So keep going and good luck in your individual quest.

I love figure skating, having fallen on my butt more times than I can count when I tried to gain the most elementary of skills. Gave up on doing it a long time ago (hey, I'm pushing 80!) but still love watching it and exclaiming over how hard the skaters have worked.

Absolutely right, I quite like skating but have never been any good at it and I too have ended up on my butt a few times!
I love skiing and I'm in awe of the fast downhill skiers.

Yes... watching when possible!
What a feast!

Years of Hard work,
perseverance,
ups and downs...
Finally crowned

Thanks, Fleeky. Having spent a great deal of time in Norway I do love the Winter Olympics; they take it very seriously there!
It doesn't get the same level of coverage in the UK and we Brits don't generally have too much to cheer about!

LOL,
we europeans neither, except for countries with (high snowy) mountains like Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain and France... A real challenge indeed. And the Netherlands who almost live on ice...

Love to watch them now... less crowded than the olympics, makes it more friendly, at human level... just like the parolympics, very moving also. Easy to follow.

Less commercialized also... real sport....

Thank you for sharing, made my day
And yes, enjoying the competition. Wow, all those athlets!

✨❄️☃️☔️

So true and thanks for making me laugh 😂😂😂

Very inspirational words here, Rick! Thanks, my friend!

Awesome post! I am one of those who is not interested in winter sports. 😅 But you made a great point using the winter sports in comparison with your goals. You got to put in the work if you want to see results!

We certainly do have to put in the work. As I've heard; the only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Great post!
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks MaxiMos 😃
