Starting Year 3 With WA - My Black Friday Story
Hi everyone. This is my second year in a row taking advantage of the Black Friday discount at Wealthy Affiliate and I wanted to tell you that I have no regrets!
My first year I paid monthly but then a year ago I had earned enough in WA affiliate commissions to pay for the discounted annual membership. That brought me great peace of mind as I stopped thinking about making my monthly payments (even though it was all automated) and started thinking about my 12 month plan and how I would map out my business.
As you all know sometimes life has a way of intruding :) and makes us pay attention to our health. Well, that's what happened to me and it took me a number of months to get back on track. But this also made me look at my passions and priorities again, so I shifted my focus and went back to writing fiction. Book sales are going very well on my first book (and thank you to everyone for your support) and the second one is now being edited.
But writing is still a business and nowadays writers need to have an online presence...and I need WA to help me do that. I have my writer's website but have not yet spent a lot of time developing it yet...that is what I plan to do with year 3 here at WA. There are so many opportunities to incorporate many of the lessons from WA on my website:
- Review writing programs (yes, even the scams)
- Review books
- Offer resources that pay me affiliate commissions (including WA)
- Develop writing eBooks
- And, of course, promote my own writing
Now I have another year to plan not only my writing but also my writing business. And for someone who likes to keep things simple...renewing my Wealthy Affiliate annual membership was a no brainer. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like things are good for you. Wonderful plans. May this next year be great for you. Blessings. Shirley
Thank you for your support, Shirley. I still need to sketch out my next 12 months so I have a concrete plan.
Thanks much. I would miss the support of this community if I didn't renew...that was my second reason I knew I had to renew.
Great news, Tommy. My actual start date was December 27th but I just had to take advantage of the Black Friday discount each year so I now use that for my annual planning.
I hope you blog about it. I think it helps many of the newer members to see that longevity in this business is what will make you successful.
Cogratulations! I've been thinking of doing the same - write my own books and promote it on a website - but I'll start with another site first. Good luck with book #2!
It's a great thing to put out your own product, I'm loving it. It's a three-step process: 1) write your book 2) publish on Amazon and/or elsewhere 3) promote it without spamming
Thanks for sharing the three-step process! Makes it much easier to know where to start. I've always got stuck on the "an what shall I do when the book is written" - you gave me a direction to go. Thank you!
Thanks. I'll be busy but I anticipate that by the end of 2015 I'll be working full-time from home. The goal is actually July.
Thank you. Things have been going very well for me the last three months, I've very pleased.
I'll likely do both. I originally thought just fiction but I've been reading so many great books about writing lately and have focused on specific authors that I just have to include those. Is this something you're doing as well?
Yes I have written a book called I Found My 100 Year Old Mother - it's the true story of my 40 year search for my mother. Her ambition was "to be more famous than Einstein" so I am hoping this book will help this happen :) It's on Amazon
That sounds very intriguing. I'll go check it out. Have you written anything else and are you promoting your own work? I'm trying to learn more about promoting on my writers website but haven't quite found my focus yet.
I made a website about the book ifoundmy100yearoldmother.com but I haven't done much with it so far. I intend to improve it with the help of the lessons from WA I got a few logos made on fiverr and sometimes put out a few links on social media.. Eventually I would like to turn it into a screenplay. It seems that the actual writing of the book is the easy part. Hopefully we are in the right place to learn about the marketing
I am just digging into the marketing aspect of a writer's website and I believe many of the same principles apply. Feel free to check out my site and I would welcome any feedback. http://rickjantzwriter.com/
I have been focusing on marketing and I have been reading about that and personal development. Perhaps I should be paying more attention to my writing. I think it is time for me to decide where I am going to direct my efforts - on writing or marketing.
That's terrific your sales are going so well! Sound like great plans for your writing platform and business. Good luck.
We're often told that our first niche may not be the one we finally settle on and I've found that to be true. I'm really excited to be building out my writer's site in the New Year.
Hi Rick, nice to hear, I am planning on at least 3 year too, btw how did your 50.000 words went?
Hi. Made it to 70,000 words plus. Going to blog about it tonight or tomorrow as today is the last day. Thanks for asking.

Congrats Rick, thank you for sharing.
I'm not sure how I would function without my "WA Fix" each day :)
