How can we buy and install a premium theme on WA?

Can someone recommend a good theme for authors website that is free within WA?

You can install a premium theme by using Appearance > Themes > Add New and then Upload selecting the file you've purchased.

The most important factor in choosing a theme is that it should be truly responsive, capable of repurposing your site, regardless of the platform, operating system, browser or size of screen. You'll often find that over 50% of a site's traffic will come from mobile phones these days.

I'd recommend having a look at a freemium theme like Customizr which is popular with many members at WA. https://wordpress.org/themes/customizr/ before going the full premium route.

There's extensive documentation on using it here:
http://docs.presscustomizr.com/article/175-first-steps-with-the-customizr-wordpress-theme

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

No probs. you're most welcome! :)

I have asked this question several times and I am not getting a a satisfactory answer. I am not an expert ......my computer guy tells me that he can not transfer my website fro

You'll need to make a backup of your entire website and save it on your computer. Then ask Site Support to help you with the move. We don't have access to a control panel or the database here so only Site Support can help you. If you have any files outside the WordPress installation then you may need to use FTP as well.

Thanks for your help.

If I have backed up files on my computer how will site support me to transfer the backed up files? Will I need to use FTP to transfer the files? I am not tech savy. I am using someone from fiverr to help me with the tech stuff.

The website that I wish to transfer is on wordpress. From your comment it appears that I won't need FTP.

Lastly do I need the plugin to backup the site or can I do it on my computer?

I can initially change the settings on Godaddy for WA and later transfer the domain so that renewal becomes easy. What I don't understand is that there are thousands of domains in WA. Once I transfer the domain to WA how does it connected to my account?

How do I contact support for transferring files from my computer? It is only WA members you respond to my questions.

It is an important website for me and I do not wish to make any mistakes during the transfer.

Thanks once again for your help.

Site Support will answer all your questions.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

I have raised all these issues with WA support through the link you have suggested but the responses I get are only through supportive members such as you for which I am extremely grateful. I am still not completely sure how this can be done. I can not have my site down for more than one day during the transfer that is why I am trying to seek clarity on how this can be done.

You have to nominate a website to get Site Support. If you have a Site Rubix subdomain website cite that. If you don't have one already then create one.

I will do that and give a try. Thanks for your support.

If we do not have access to control panel the how can we transfer a website to WP? I spoke to a specialist to transfer my website from Hostgator and he said that he can't do it

If your website is a WordPress site than you will be able to use the export tools to export it and download it on your pc. Than you can create a siterubix site here to import all the content. This is however complicated. WA SiteSupport is faster at doing this for you.

If your site is something else than WordPress, it will be difficult to transfer it to WA, unless it is a form of a blog system of a different type. There are converters and importers available (plugins) to for example import blogs from a different system into WordPress. That way I imported my own created weblog system blogs into my WA WordPress site (XML).

Alternatively you could give WA SiteSupport access to your site at HostGator and they might be able to do it for you. That is probably the best and fastest option for you.

See below the response from SiteSupport:

To transfer your website to Wealthy Affiliate servers all we need is your website URL and FTP details so that we install on our servers.

Here is the process:

1 - Provide us with your current website URL and FTP login details (username/password)
2 - We will verify that you have a WordPress website and that it can be transferred to WA
3 - We will download and install your website on a temporary site here at WA
4 - You can verify that the site has transferred correctly
5 - You then update your DNS(Domain name servers) to point at Wealthy Affiliate and MOVE your temporary site to your REAL domain.

Wealthy Affiliate Nameservers are:

Primary: NS1.MYWAHOSTING.COM
Secondary: NS2.MYWAHOSTING.COM

If you are wanting to transfer a website that is NOT WordPress you will need to do this on your own as we do not provide support for this.

Please note that we do not support custom MX records and that your domain will use Wealthy Affiliate mail servers.

So contact SiteSupport!

Steven

Hello Steven,

Thanks a ton. You have answered all my questions. I will back up all the files of the website on my computer and contact support.

Warm regards
Praveen

I have website with Hostgator. How do I transfer it to WA? Also domain name will need to be transferred.

if you transfer the Domain to WA you need a EPP code from Hostgator but if you just want to transfer the hosting, I believe you just need to insert the Name servers from WA in Hostgator site manager.

Thanks. I am still not clear. Will appreciate if you clarify the full procedure.

If you transfer your domain to WA under http://siterubix.com means that you no longer have to log into you old registrar site for renew or support. In this case you need an EPP code from your current domain registrar. Normally the new domain registrar will ask u to renew for another year. The EPP can be found in your current domain company, just log into your cPanel and search for it. It should be under transfer of domain page.
If you just want to change the hosting, means that you still use you old domain company for renewal and support for issue on domain name but host your website in WA. to do this just add the Nameserver of WA or siterubix in the nameserver area of your current domain company. The name server usually starts with http://NS1.MYWAHOSTING.COM and http://NS2.MMYWAHOSTING.COM please check. After adding you may have to wait for sometime depend on your current domain company.
Hope it is clear to you.

Thanks for your help. My question related to transferring my website and not domain. How do I transfer my website if I do not have access to WP control panel. Will be grateful if you can give me some advise on this.

Log In your WA account, click siterubix-Sitebuilder-on a domain I own, it will lead you to an instruction page wth name server of WA as follow

Primary: ns1.mywahosting.com
Secondary: ns2.mywahosting.com

Follow the instruction there by Kyle
Hope it help.

Thanks.
