Living In The Present

The other day I blogged about two books I’m reading by Melody Beattie, called ‘The Language of Letting Go’ and ‘More Language of Letting Go’.

To re-cap, each book consists of 366 short daily chapters of about a page each. Little ‘vitamins for the mind’ to take with your first cup of coffee in the morning - or tea in my case as I’m an Englishman!

They’re a wonderful way to get in the right frame of mind to set the tone for the day ahead, and they take no more than a few minutes. Easy to do but easy not to do, right?

Here’s a copy and paste from 21st February in the first of the two books:

“The present moment is all we have. Yes, we have plans and goals, a vision for tomorrow. But now is the only time we possess, and it is enough.

We can clear our mind of the residue of yesterday. We can clear our mind of fears of tomorrow. We can be present, now. We can make ourselves available to this moment, this day. It is by being fully present now that we reach the fullness of tomorrow.

‘Have no fear, child’ a voice whispers. ‘Have no regrets. Relinquish your resentments. Let me take your pain. All you have is the present moment. Be still. Be here. Trust. All you have is now. It is enough.’

Today, I will affirm that all is well around me, when all is well within.”

I love these books. When I have completed them at the end of the year, I will go straight back to the beginning and repeat the whole exercize all over again next year. And the year after that. And the year after that, etc ad infinitum!

Seriously, I can’t recommend them enough. What a pity there’s no affiliate programme!

Hello

Hi Richard, are they not available to buy on Amazon? There's your affiliate link :)

Actually, they are. I just checked!

Hi Craig, perhaps what I should have said is that Melody the Author doesn't have her own affiliate programme! I bought both books on Amazon :-)
