Google Announces "helpful content update"
This is a tiny "heads up" post.
Google has announced that they're rolling out another update over the next few weeks.
There's nothing new in the general message which is:
Focus on people-first content
They say: "The helpful content update aims to better reward content where visitors feel they've had a satisfying experience, while content that doesn't meet a visitor's expectations won't perform as well."
The difference is that they are in the process of updating their algorithms to reflect this more directly and provide more guidance on what to focus on and what to avoid.

Thanks for passing that along. It makes good sense to me.
Aside from trying to go with a decent key phrase that Google can find and clearly tie to my topic, I don't spend a lot of time thinking about the algorithm. My content is focused on the teams that my audience (primarily those in my Facebook group) are interested in hearing about. So that pretty much keeps me on point. Whatever happens from there, I can live with.
This is more of a hobby than a business for me, but it does feel good when I can hit upon a topic in a post that can wind up on the first page of Google for those doing a search on it. Not saying it happens frequently, but it does occur enough times to keep me happy. :-)

thanks for chipping in! The way I think of a focused keyword is similar to you. I find a keyword, not to make it a focused keyword within SEO but for me to focus my writing on.

Thank you for your post, Richard. I do need to write content again for my website. I have not written any content for many months as I have been busy creating content for my 3rd YT channel. but my website is next on my list as I have topics for content already. Google's advice is right on where my brain is. My channels are gradually gaining subscribers and viewers.

Are you able to use any of your YT videos in your posts? Although I don't use YT myself yet... since Google own YT they do seem to favour posts with relevant videos embedded.
