When you purchase a domain name it is from what are known as "Registrars".
Sometimes the best way to explain is to show.
When you type in https://who.is/
and put the URL as http://legittelecommute.com
scroll down and you will see - notice under Registrant Name it says "Registration Private"

Yes, you'll need to purchase your own domain (if you don't want a .siterubix.com domain) through a domain registrar.
Like steveo5770, I recommend Namecheap--and they do include WhoisGuard for free for the first year.
You don't need their hosting services as that's provided here at WA--included with your Premium Membership, and is far superior than Namecheap's hosting (and includes this whole community!).

I would also recommend using NameCheap. I recently switched from using GoDaddy, which can be a bit expensive. Use the coupons you can find online and get hosting at the same time. Hosting 3 domains cost me about $7. for the first year.
I stopped using godaddy when they supported SOPA. That would have ruined the internet as we know it.

I would like to sign up for the year, rather than paying monthly.
If you click on your Account Settings (lower left bottom corner) it will take you to your Subscription Settings and you can Manage your account right there. You will have to take the first month for $19 before it will change and let you go yearly. But, that is a great deal for the first month. Let me know if you have any trouble. :)
