Hi all, just a question for those who have been around long enough to be able to 'look back' with a matured perspective: I'm a new starter here, and although I love the friendl
Your first priority is to go through and apply the Certification training. Set a clear daily/weekly/monthly goal for that, whatever suits you, then set some easy goals for the engagement side, which you can focus on AFTER completing each Certification course goal.
For example, on the engagement side, I aim to "like" and "comment" once a day. In addition, if someone posts a response to my activity, I like to acknowledge that in some way. It needn't take more than a few minutes a day, especially if someone has posted some nice content for me to respond to (such as your contribution today!)...
Next, in 2018 I am aiming to post 1 x blog on the WA site per week. You are already doing something like that, which is great.
Engagement can also be in the form of earning credits via comments on people's Wordpress blogs, which will enable you to request comments on your blog.
All the best,
David Hurley

Hi David, What great, actionable advice - thanks! I didn't know anything about reciprocating WP blog commenting, etc. I will have to look into it when the time comes but, as you say, I will keep 'eyes front' for now :-) Blessings, Sue
Yes, Sue. I also agree with Rabia. Focus on your training. The social interaction will come with time

Hi Sue
Hope you had a lovely Christmas. I would advocate what every else already said. Focus on your training. Like you as a newbie I thought I had to respond to every email or post that came my way. It was very distracting and could not focus much at the beginning especially when I knew I had limited time.
Minimise the social interaction, focus on your training and make sure you complete your daily goals otherwise you will not be able to get much work done. I am desperate to start making money but I realised there is so much training to get through and I can't take short cuts.
All the best for 2018. You can do it.

WA is awesome, and it's great to have a group of like-minded people for support, BUT, it can and is a distraction for many when they should be more focused on their site! (myself included)
It's all a balance :-)
Hi John - thanks. Yes, I suspected what you've said was right, but I was not completely sure of expectations for us newcomers :-)
Forget about WA ranking for the meantime, focus on your website and as you bring referrals to WA, helping your referrals will boost your ranking in WA. Then if you have extra time later on you can start helping members of the community.
Focus on learning and building your own business and just do the social thing when you need to take a break. Your WA rank is not going to bring in any money but your website can.

Balance between engagement and training?

Your topic is a challenge that we all deal with. I would concentrate first on training and site development followed by interaction. I have set times I do each now but still need to improve. Jay
Thanks Jay, yes, I always see lots of areas for improvement too - it's all to do with self-discipline (and continuing to educate oneself: I am reading David Allen's 'Getting Things Done' at the moment :-) )
