Is your site a hobby? Not to me :)

I am sorry I haven't been posting blogs as much this week, it's been busy. After finding out I was on page two of Google I just had to get more posts out on there and make sure people could find me! :) But here is a blog about your site. Do you think it's a hobby or a job? (You can answer that question if you want) Here is why I am writing this post today.

A family member once told me that owning a website is a hobby to me. But I think writing is not a hobby but a full-time job, looking up keywords, making sure your keyword is with a good SEO rank. And so much more.

To me, As you know I love to write, and writing on my site makes my heart full of joy to tell others about teas that are good for their health. But when Someone tells me that the site is a hobby that makes me feel like I shouldn't own a site, like I should give up and move on to something that they would be proud of me working on (like CNA School) But without my Russian paperwork I can't move to that school right now and so it's my site on my list that I have to work on.

When someone tells me those words "it's just a hobby Rebekah, do something that helps you out in life." I just think in my head. "It's my life, not yours!"

Being on WA is such a bright part of the day (In the morning) and I love everyone here because you all are so helpful when I just started on this site and my website.

Being on WA makes me know that I can make money from being in my livingroom on my laptop, I am sure your thinking. "Ok, what does this have to do with me?"

This post is for those who have someone telling them the same thing. If someone says that owning a site just a hobby, tell them this. "You live your life and I will live mine." ps. Say it in a nice way. I never told that family member that but I said it in my head. And now some updates.

I just posted 4 news posts on my site that are great if I do say so myself.

In just two weeks (The 21st) I will not be on WA at all because My sister is getting married on that day!

And so I have to go to that wonderful day for her, but I will be back on Monday!

Next week I will be on WA all week working on my site and posting more. :)

Have a great day!!

Rebekah.

Hi Rebekah! It sounds like you're being true to yourself regarding your website b/c you're doing what fills your heart with joy. Who knows where that might lead. Teas are enjoyed by individuals worldwide. So that's a great start. Growing your website to earn money that will pay your bills by doing what brings you joy and helping others is a winning situation. If you ever need to have a job while working on your website, it doesn't mean that your website's a hobby. Many entrepreneurs have full- or part-time jobs while building the business of their dreams. Go for it! :)

All the best to you!
Colleen

I agree with that too. it's very true.

It is your site, and you are the only one who knows what the site means to you. What other people think often shapes our lives more than it should. We live in the shadow of their perception of us. It is difficult to step outside and into the sunshine of our own lives.
But without sunshine, nothing will grow.

I have one site that is definitely work for me; I have other sites that are hobbies. I need to spend more time on them.....working on it.

Alex

Thanks for the wise words! i would love to check out your sites

For me it's a business, and therefore, my job. If you treat it like a hobby, doing it only in your spare time when you're already tired from some other job, it won't return the results you want and will probably remain just a hobby.

Those poor results might even disappoint you enough to make you quit, at that point. That's why it's best to really start attacking it from day one, if you want it to really bear fruit.

That might mean doing it early in the morning before you go to your other job, assuming you have one. The rest of the world is still asleep and not there to compete for your time and attention.

If your friends and family don't see you taking it seriously enough, they will assume it's a hobby, as well. They'll wonder why you're not spending more time with them and probably get the wrong idea. The only way they're ever going to get it is by the cues your actions provide.

Oh, and if you are very obviously making more money, they will have to take you seriously. It's doubtful that the average person's stamp collection will be as profitable as a website that either doubles your salary or outright replaces it.

Thanks

Thank you, Bekah!

For a wonderful reminder that not all of us are doing this to pass time. We hope it helps us sustain a great life in the future. That is why you work hard to make sure it does.

Even if it was a hobby, work hard at it! Would it not be greater to make your best living from your hobby?

I am currently full-time working on my site - Meaning all my free time from the life I am trying hard to upgrade I work on my site. While I still keep my job, that is helping me to fund my new full-time job(my site).

From a distance, I can see everyone thinking, there goes Ntlhane working on his new hobby. Wait till a few years from now and see if they still think that way.

You will see then when your hobby turns into a business overnight.

Enjoy your sister's wedding. WA will surely miss your presence. We look forward to your return.

LOl, I am sure most of my siblings think the same when they see me tying so much all day long.

I am sure she will see that same thing one day, until then I just have to have her mind her own business. Not mine!

I will be here next week all week and then have Sunday off, but then it's back to work on Monday.

Hope you're doing well, thanks for telling me what you think.

Have a good day :)

Thank you, Keep well.

Ntlhane

What I do to my website is important as I invest in my time, dedication, and money because my website is my business. I'm glad that my family supported me. And I don't mind the others.

Thank you for sharing. And congrats on your sister who's getting married soon and to you too.

Thanks,
Joyce
