Why Set Goals-I Never Reach Them

I hate to hear, “Why set goals, I never reach them” from anyone. Something inside me wants to rise up and say, “Well I guess you just don’t understand how powerful goals are in achieving your financial objectives.”

Let’s start with one of the most powerful principles for business, financial and life success and that is…

Success is a choice…

Success is a choice. And whether you realize it or not setting clearly defined goals is a part of the process.

It’s up to you and you alone to decide how you will achieve your goals. If you don’t set your own goals, guess what? You are handing your destiny over to someone or something else to determine your outcome. Like Jim Rohn said, “And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”

When you set goals, you are being proactive and setting yourself up to win. On the other hand, if you are not setting and committing to your goals your life will be like driving a car without a steering wheel. Go ahead and think where you want to go but without a properly set goal and action plan you’ll just crash and burn.

When that happens it’s easy to blame something or someone else but the truth is you and you alone are responsible for your success. If you are someone reading this post and wondering, “Does Wealthy Affiliate really work?” it is likely that you are looking for someone or some system to magically make everything happen for you.Stop that thinking now.

What you do with the learning you receive is up to you. Without clearly defined goals we tend to waste time in the daily business of life and then wonder where the time went.I know this because for a few years after a devastating divorce where I lost everything I had worked seventeen years to build I felt the same way.

Bob Proctor described my state perfectly…

5 Ways Setting Goals Helps You Build Financial Security

When you understand brain research you will understand how setting the RAS (Reticular Activating System) in your brain determines success and failure with goal achievement. You were miraculously created to see and pursue a vision.

Your RAS only knows what you put into it. Once your brain is set on a course, your sub-conscious mind will propel you forward. Therefore here are the top five reasons why you should set goals as part of your financial success plan.

-1- Setting goals helps your mind develop questions. Setting a goal is easy. Achieving it or how you go about it is the hard part. By setting your intention you inform your sub-conscious mind (RAS) to go to work on creating how your goal will be attained. By asking yourself questions you determine the how.

-2- Setting a goal helps to focus your mind. Your thinking controls your actions. Without a goal your mind will wander aimlessly. Unchecked, it just might wander to negative thoughts. Harnessed it will lead you to that how and what you need to do to manifest your goal.

-3- Once you have a goal you can form a compelling vision and a compelling reason to achieve your goal. Compelling whys and visions of success fuel motivation and desire.Desire is the most powerful motivator there is for goal achievement.Desire creates Olympic Champions. Desire creates millionaire entrepreneurs.

-4-Setting goals helps you escalate your internal race to achieve your purpose in life. Every person is born with the DNA to succeed at something.Every person has been given a purpose to fulfill.Your purpose is your life destiny. Once your goals align with your purpose you will find it easier to focus and work with energy to achieve your goals.

-5- Once you set a specific goal, your mind will gravitate toward the fulfillment of that goal. Things that you previously overlooked will come to the forefront of your mind. You will find new opportunities and amazing resources that support your goal.

Think of setting goals as plating seeds in your mind. But, not only do you have to plant the seed, you must also create the daily environment to bring your goals into reality. How do you do that?

Disciplined daily routine will bring your goals into reality.

Please let me know how I can help you refine your goals and set the course for your financial success.

Really enjoyed your post, goals are important thank you for sharing

You are most welcome, Katie. And yes goals are important much like a compass for our mind. Have a great week!~Rebecca

Excellent information. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much dear one. I appreciate your comment. ~Rebecca

Such a well written and informative post. I have the worst trouble writing down goals and then following through on them. I will try harder and just do it. :) Thank you

Take it a step at a time, Judy. Start with where you'd like to be in a year from now with your website...how much you want to earn per month and so on. Start with two or three goals you can see yourself achieving and build from there.

Keep me posted! ~ Rebecca

What an absolutely wonderful article. Thank you!!! Everything written here is so true and so simple, but it is so difficult for some.

Thanks so much for your comment. All of us have areas that are difficult. Day by day, step by step we break the difficult steps into those that are manageable

I have difficulty with the technical aspects of building a website. But thankfully I have the inch by inch support of a fantastic WA community to pick me up when I fail. Blessings to you precious one! ~Rebecca

Hi all
My name is Adewumi, and i recently joined WA. I did my research and discovered that pple had a lot of positive things to say about WA. Hope to have a wonderful experience with the WA community.

Hello my dear Adewumi ! I am so glad to welcome you. One of the first things, WA founders, Kyle and Carson will ask of you is to set your financial goals. Do not be afraid. Write down what you want. Then rest a bit and let your marvelous mind help you create a plan to achieve your goals.

You can do anything you set your mind and actions to do, Adewumi. And, you are not alone. Your WA community family will help you.

Thanks Rebecca

You are most welcome! Stay in touch. ~Rebecca

Another excellent post Rebeccas. Today my new business plan goes into effect. I think many do not do this very important written strategy. Must add; refining, defining, and assessment must happen after each goal is met, and as you say, to set the course for financial success.^_~

So well stated! I am excited that you have written a business plan and are now at the point of launch. Very few start-up entrepreneurs take the time to write a business plan. No wonder so many fail.

You are so right...writing a goal is only the first step...setting up a strategy, refining and assessing are critical functions. I am so very happy for you dear one!!! ~Rebecca

Very nice blogpost Rebecca! Thanks for the inspiration!

Hello Precious One...I'm glad you like this post. Go for your dreams! ~Rebecca

Reach for the moon as your goal. Even if you don't make it, you're still among the stars.

Yes Dear Debbi...I so agree with you! Reach for the moon, but create a plan to get there. ~Rebecca

Rebecca, your post is very timely. I was just thinking about goals today and how I have approached IM in the past. I have become much more focused recently. In fact, I have spent the last 2 days on WA training and tweaking my blog and loving every minute of it! Thanks for the reality check! Alanna

Dear Alanna...you are so right to hone your focus like a laser. That's really what goal setting is all about. Start with the big picture and then hone it down into specific actionable objectives. Good for you dear one! The more specific you are with your focus, the more likely you will be to achieve your objective. GO, GO, GO~Rebecca

Well-written and inspiring post! Thanks for your words of wisdom. I appreciate when someone gives the "why" behind their suggestions. I just wrote down some goals after reading this.

Thanks for your comment Graham. But even more I am glad you took time to write down your goals. You are on the way my friend. ~Rebecca
