Authoring & Writing Content

It takes me a pretty long time to write a 1000 word article. Does anyone have any advice to speed up this process? Are there any tools you use besides content creator?

Hi Rebecca,

I found that having a structured approach in place that works for you can really help speed up your writing. When I first started writing content it was taking me several hours to write and then more to format the content the way I wanted to present it.

My approach now is this:

Categories my upcoming content ideas and schedule when I want them to be published on a calendar or schedule.

Complete the research processes - this takes up the bulk of the time as I'm sure you have already experienced

Set specified 'time-critical' slots into your schedule - so give yourself maybe an hour or two at first to write an article from start to finish and focus solely on this task.

Revisit the article at least 6 hours later - I usually revisit a post the following day before completing the formatting and publishing .

Most importantly though, be patient with yourself as others have already stated it's a marathon and not a sprint. After you have refined an approach that works for you, the writing process does become a lot easier and much more fluid than when first starting out.

Best of luck, and enjoy the journey.

Hi Rebecca,

I’m new here in the land of WA. Though, from my experience (even outside WA, it takes a while to write anything.

With all the research and all, my 1st article took about 8 - 10 hours to write the content and another 2 hours to create and add photos. I know they have 1000s of photos in WA Site Content, though, I could find any specific or like I wanted for my article.

I do find one thing a fellow WAian (a name I created for the people here in the land of WA) shared with me that helped and, I’ll share it with you... in case you’re outside the know... He suggested it’s better to type your content outside WA Site Content, then, cut and paste it into your Site content. Of course, you’ll still need to add photos and other links. But, I found that this helped shorten the time typing content in WA.

Hope this helps,

Blessings,

Kathy🦋

define pretty long.
is it the article writing or the research.
the research can take longer than writing the content.
i hope you manage to find some techniques to shorten your writing time - don't go by the write for half an hour to produce 1k words - it takes me a lot longer than that .
it is not a race, if you produce one article every two or three days it will take longer to get to 100, but theimportant point is that you are determined to get to 100 posts and reach it. others might not!

My niche is within the sexual health and wellness field. Should I verify age before accessing the site (ask for birthday)? Is there an easy way to do this?

Put something like this on your homepage:

"By using this website you verify that you are at least XX years old."

I would think so it would be a good idea just to be on the safe side in accordance to other counties and probably their laws and regulation.

I also agree so far what John has said.

I hope this gives you some help.

Sylvia

That's kind of what I figured.

not sure why you would need to. You are offering help and advice on a subject that people of all ages might benefit from.
I suppose it would depend on the actual content you are going to offer.
Just my initial thoughts. Is it going to classed as Adult Content, then yes you may need to. But if it is a lot of helpful guides, then I am not sure you would need to.
I am sure there is a WP plugin, if you needed one.

I agree. I feel like there are many websites out there that ask for a birthdate to enter and the people who are underage, I would assume, lie and just put in a birthdate that would make them old enough, so they still end up getting the information. Its just a CYA type of thing...

I love the topic of sexuality, particularly female sexuality. I was raised in a culture that shames this. I was thinking about creating a website targeting women looking for ad

It depends on your values and beliefs. Ensure that your audience are mature adults.

It is a good niche,go for it!

I don't think it's too broad. It's a niche of health and wellness in my opinion and you're focusing on a specific target audience. I'm sure if you can provide great content and information, you'll do fine!

Thank you!

In my opinion isn't too broad.

Here are a few tips that can help you to evaluate your idea
