It's Never Too Late

I've always loved to write. Back in 2003, I published a children's picture book. I then published some novels with a small publisher before going indie and creating my own publishing imprint. I have since published several sweet romance novels and novellas.

I love writing books, but I don't write them very fast. Because I do have ten kids and eight grandkids, I don't have a lot of extra time on my hands and novels take me a long time to write. I know authors who can produce a book in a month, but I can't. I've finally stopped beating myself up that I can't produce a book a month.

My husband has been the bread winner for the last 34 years. When he lost his job unexpectedly due to "reorganization" at the company where he'd worked for 29 years, we found ourselves in a tough situation. Since I've been a stay-at-home mom, I didn't have any real marketable skills (other than changing diapers, wiping boogers, and doing laundry). And I still have kids at home, including one with special needs.

I felt like I needed to do something with the possibility of earning money while still being able to be home to take care of my family and the house. I also want to be available to tend my grandkids. So, I thought about writing again. I knew I couldn't write fast enough or produce enough books to really make any money, so I thought about blogging.

I'd always wanted to have a parenting/mom blog but didn't know how to monetize it. Even though I'm far from being an expert on raising kids, I have had considerable experiences and thought maybe someone might benefit from my experiences.

After researching about profitable blogging, I found WA and was impressed with the one-stop shop for all things blogging. Being able to buy my domain and host it here as well as having access to images and training and the awesome network of bloggers was enough motivation for me to create www.raisingtenkids.com.

I'm still working the kinks out. I've switched themes at least six times so far. I've been an Amazon Affiliate for years, but I'm now learning other ways to make money. I'm also learning tips and tricks I didn't know before with WordPress.

I'm old (I remember when phones were attached to the wall, no one had a personal computer, and the internet wasn't even a twinkle in anyone's eye), but I'm hoping to leverage my experience in my niche to help others who are traveling the same road of parenting and to make some money along the way.

It's never too late to learn something new and to create something you want to create.

I wrote a Blog called - So You Think You're A Supermom

It would fit you to a Tee.

BTW don't belittle your achievements on being a mom of ten kids that is an achievement in itself so you have many years experience to draw on for a Niche and the products you can advertise to make you a pile of money.

Onwards and Upwards to Success Rebecca and why are you not following me so you can gain knowledge from my blogs lol.

Hope you're having a good one.
Robert

Thank you! Also, shhh don’t tell anyone, but I’m not actually sure how to follow people on here. 😬

You can just look at peoples profiles you believe can help you along and you click the Follow word in Green at the top of their profile - eezy peezy lemon sqeezy

As you're a new member you may not be aware of this but it’s a good idea (only if you are interested in your rank within WA) to click the 'Like' icon within a comment if you like it as I have done with yours.

Obviously you don't have to click every single comment or you will be here all day doing nothing else.

But to click the ones you like that are replies to your own comments will be reflected in your WA ranking because it shows you are getting involved with the community.
Enjoy your Thursday.
Robert

Thank you!!

No probs and happy to point you in the right direction.
Of course a lot of members don't bother what their ranks is and concentrate 100% on why they are here and that is to learn how to earn an income from the net.

Don't feel obliged to click 'Like' if you don't want to.
Enjoy your weekend.
Robert

Great post!!!! I'm old too! lol I'm trying to reinvent myself. I've always worked jobs to make somebody else rich, but in the back of my head I knew someday I would own my own business and make the money for my family and me. I think I've found it. I'm very happy to see where this takes me. TY and all the success to you

Thank you!! I wish you great success!! Never thought I’d reinvent myself at this age—I’d planned to just skate on into retirement. Guess not. 🙂

Your story is an inspiration. I am sure there are a lot of people out there who find themselves in a similar situation you were in but do not know what to do or are just afraid to start something new.
You are right, it is never too late.

Thank you! I hope my story can inspire others. Life can throw us curveballs when we least expect it. We just have to learn how to hit those curveballs out of the ballpark!
