I was once watching a video training on how to create affiliate links, and all the person did was copy and paste content and pictures into his site. I understand that it is in

Some affiliate programs give you resources or allow you to use their content. You can do it when they allow it but in my opinion, this is the lazy way to work on the internet.

It does not convert well and you always get better results when you create your own content.

Amazon does not allow this, however other programs have different policies and it is up to each individual to read the correct rules for each affiliate program they join, to ensure that they do not break the copyright rules. The different programs we each join in our chosen niches are too vast to generally give a specific limit. Therefore just cover yourself by abiding by your own affiliate program policies.

When should I worry about copyright issues?

how can I redirect a different domain to an existing live website?

Hi Rebeca,
The fastest and easiest way to do it is using the plugin redirection, https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/
Through a redirect users and search engines are sent to a URL other than the one they requested. 301 redirect is the one recommended for SEO. The plugin mentioned manages 301 redirects.
Hope this helps,
Tom

This is great! Thank you!

I transferred my domains to WA, but when building my website I'm getting an error message saying "Go back to Pattern". Please help!

Where/when are you getting this error message? Are your domains showing under Domains Registered at WA when you go to Websites > Site Domains? When you go to build your site are you going to Websites > Site Builder and then selecting On a Domain I Own and choosing your domain from the pull-down menu?

I was able to fix the problem by changing the DNS server and having a little patience with my internet speed. :)

Awesome!

Has anyone received a call from website reviewers said to be in connection with WA?

Hi Becky sorry you had to go through that, but sounds like you got it under control and thanks for sharing.

Tina

I'm not sure Becky how these scammers would even have access to my phone number had it been me as I have an unlisted number. Yeah, as Kyle said it definitely is a scam! I also have my two domains registered as private - again not giving anyone my phone number to begin with.

The next domain I register, I will DEFINATELY register as private - otherwise, scams and span!

I'm so new to this I didn't even realize it was possible to scam from a domain. I'm still very confused at what could they possible scam me with from the info I gave them. Anyway, from now on I will make my future domains private too.

Don't worry - all will be well and you'll be fine!
... we learn as we go along - all of us.

Total scam!! This is in no way related to us and they are able to get your contact details because you have not registered your domain privately (another reason you want to use the domain registration here at wa which blocks stuff like this). Avoid anything like this, we will never call you or solicit anything to you.

Thank you Kyle. This experience just makes WA even more reliable to me. I'm afraid of what they could possibly do with the info I gave them. But I still wonder, how could they know I'm with WA in the first place since I purchased my domain at GoDaddy.

P.S. Would be nice if you could include a warning in your course lessons for future newbies like me. Affiliate marketing is totally new territory for me so I didn't see this coming at all.

This is only happening because they are finding whom your web host is through your domain registrar (godaddy) and since you have left your contact information unprotected, they are using that to solicit to you.

You should immediate add "whois protection" to your domain at godaddy because this will be common place going forward as these scam companies will try to sell you other stuff as well.

Good thing you asked, if there is anything you are ever unsure of just ask...just do know that we will not try to sell you anything through the phone, ever. We have never actually phoned anyone nor do we collect phone numbers.

Thank you sooooo much for that info. This is total education for me. I have definitely learned from my mistake and I'm glad I asked, otherwise I would've never known where they got my info from. I am usually very careful, but like I said, this is new territory for me so I'm learning. I'm even more committed to WA now more than ever because of this whole experience.
Thanks for the help everyone!
Rebeca

It's a scam. These people look up your website's WHOIS data, then call you pretending to be affiliated with Wealthy Affiliate. THEY ARE NOT. They are trying to get money out of you.

But they didn't ask for money, though. I only suspected them because they said they'd call me back with ideas within an hour and haven't called back. I'm sure now that they're not with WA, but I'm confused because I don't know what they could actually accomplish from just knowing my website goals and ideas, my income, debt and banks affiliated with my credit cards. I didn't give them my card numbers, my birthday, ss#, address or anything like that. I'm suspicious mostly because they asked for the banks associated with my credit cards. And I only got suspicipus after the fact. I'm always so careful with my personal info so now I feel so..... I don't know the word.

The next call was likely going to lead into some sort of promotion or them asking you how much money you have, offering you some service, etc.

Moving forward register all of your domains here through our SiteDomains platform as all of your information (contact details) is hidden from people when you register domains here.

If it weren't because I invested so much time and effort on my website, I'd delete it and start all over by registering it in WA. I will definitely register any future domain here. Thanks for the heads up.

Sounds to me like we've got a case of the CRA or IRS on our hands !!

Thanks for your reply Gary. Would you mind elaborating?

Hi Becky no I've not either although did receive an email not long after I joined WA about website management which I just ignored.

Hmmmm they said they come as part of the WA package. I wonder if I'm being scammed. They didn't ask me for any personal info except for my income and my goals and expectations from the website. Their numbers are also real, meaning that if you call them you can reach real people instead of a machine.. They called and made an actual appointment with me and then asked me questions relevant to my website and offered to provide me with ideas that would help my website reach the goal. The only questions that I didnt see relevance for were about my income and debt info. Then they said they would get back to me with ideas after discussing my goals and plans with their team. If they are not legit, could they actually steal my identity from figuring out my income to debt ratio and who my credit card company is? I'm Scared. They seemed legit so I only got suspicious after the fact.

I don't think they can steal your identity from the info you have given hun. I would possibly be very wary about any emails you receive (if any) you may find that if it is someone dodgy they might send you an email which could look like it's from your card company. Just something to bear in mind. Try not to get too stressed about it and keep a watchful eye on anything which looks odd.

Hi Becky,

What you should do is change your account that associated with WA for now. Just to make sure they are trying to hack your account because they know already all your personal info. That's what I have to do first that you know they are not from WA. They are scam artist!

Thanks for sharing this!
