It was May 30 when Joan of Arc was contemned to burn alive as a heratic!

Joan of Arc, also known as the Virgin of Orléans she was born in Dorreum in January 6, 1412 and died in Rouen in May 30 1431). She was a French heroine leader of the French troops in the Hundred Years War against the English in France.

At the age of 13, she saw the first of her visions in the garden of her father's home, where Archangel Michael, Agia Margarita and Saint Catherine appeared, and called upon her to take action to relieve France of the humiliation imposed on her by the English with the Troyes Treaty in the most critical phase of the Hundred Years War, and help the successor of the French throne, Charles Z, regain the crown. But only in 1429, after overcoming many difficulties, Joan managed to be accepted by Charles and get permission to lead a small military force that had been set up to strengthen Orleans, one of the few cities that had remained faithful to Successor, which the English were besieging. After the liberation of Orléans, Joan accompanied Charles to the aftermath of the liberation war (Tour, Auxerre, Troyes) until the entrance to Rens, where the Delfino was formally crowned king (17 July 1429).

After being wounded under the walls of Paris, Joan was captured by a soldier of the duke Philip of Burgundy (May 1430) in a company near Coppeen, who delivered her to the English. In Rouen, she was tried by an ecclesiastical court, which had been appointed by the University of Paris and acting according to the orders of the English. She was accused of "short hair", "dressed in men's clothing", "magic" and "heretic" becauses he "claimed to be directly accountable to God" and was condemned to burn "auto da fe" (alive) as a heretic. At the time she was prayings he asked to raise the cross to be able to see it through the flames. During her execution only an English soldier dared to cry "We are losers, we burned a saint". Twenty-five years later, when France had won the war and recognized Joan of Arc's contribution to the victorious struggles, a new ecclesiastical court restored the honor of the Virgin of Orléans, which on May 16, 1920, was proclaimed holy by the Catholic Church , and was proclaimed Saint and Protector of France.

We have no idea what discrimination truly IS unless we were able to transported in a time machine back to the 15th century!

Joan of Arc represents a type of courage we can never imagine.
