So sorry for the late blog post everybody but getting back, the hubby and I had an awful lot to do, between trying to fight jetlag, putting away all our suitcases and the stuff in them, and visiting family, as well as starting work. I just didn't have time to put together the vacation pics.

If it's the first time you're reading one of my blogs, then I just want to bring you up to date. I have been earning from my websit since November 2018 and every single month since then. I saved up the money and it allowed me to pay for my portion of the trip.

You can read more about it in my last post here:

So, I put this blog and the pics all together during the weekend and here they are:

This is the hubby and I in the airplane going to Mauritius. We did Toronto to Amsterdam and then on to Mauritius. We flew KLM.

So if you were wondering how long it took us to get there, it was 6.5hrs from Toronto to Amsterdam, a layover of 10hrs and then a 10.5hrs flight from Amsterdam to Mauritius.

We are muslims so we usually take halal meals but it wasn’t available so we had to opt for vegan. I have to say it was delicious.

The first few days, it was raining so we couldn’t really go anywhere, which was fine because we we were fighting jetlag but the first day with good weather, we went to the east coast of the island. Long drive but so worth it!

We drove to what was once the capital of Mauritius, Grand Port, but the reefs are so close to the surface of the water there and the sea outside of the lagoon is so rough that many boats crashed into the reefs and sank.

The capital was then changed to Port-Louis, on the north west of the island.

But Grand-Port is still beautiful though. Wouldn’t you agree?

The above monument was erected for the English and the French marines that died during the battle that took place on Ile de la Passe, situated right outside the reefs of Grand Port.

Some history here: the Dutch, the French, the Portuguese and the English of old constantly fought to gain possession of Mauritius, which was kind of like a place to rest and to replenish their ships of food and fuel during their voyage from Europe to India, where they bought spices for commerce.

The next few days I visited my grandma and slept over there. It was so nice to see her, to talk to her and to laugh with her. It’s times like these that make us realize that our parents and grandparents are getting old.

Some people might be thinking against using their WA earnings to fly back home and want to re-invest in their businesses, which is good, but I’m sure glad that I used my earnings to go back home instead because you never know when it might be time for them to leave this world.

There will be so much regret of not going to meet them and see them and talk to them while you still could. I’m glad I went on this trip.

But anyways, next, we went swimming!! Yippee! The sand and the beach was so beautiful with absolutely no congestion because it was a weekday. We had the beach all to ourselves.

The name of this beach is Belle Mare.

Look at the hubby enjoying it. Lol!!

Next, Ash’s sister and her husband treated us to a dinner at an indian restaurant because it was our 5th wedding anniversary. The food was delicious!

A few days later, there was some sight-seeing. We went to the south of the island, somewhere called Gris-Gris. It’s a rocky cliff with somewhat of a beach with no reefs so nobody’s allowed to swim.

There was a lot of wind and a lot of big waves that day. It's too easy to get swept away and thrown onto thw rocks in that area.

But the view was breath-taking. You could smell the salt of the sea in the air.

Then we went somewhere else called Macondé on the south west of the island. There, the road makes a complete u-shape. At that location, you can see a beautiful view of the sea and of the land.

That’s also where Ash got fresh fish, like the cateau fish and the cobbler fish. Ash’s mom made a yummy fish curry dish later on that night.

We had to return home early because it started raining. But there was definitely more fun afterwards.

A few days later, we BBQ’d at home. Everybody enjoyed it! There was lamb, chicken legs and thighs, hot dogs, cheese and a salad.

Just one word: YUM!

The above picture is Ash's brother helping himself (he is single, by the way... anybody interested? ;) lol

In the background, it's Ash's dad.

That's Ash enjoying his dinner. So proud of Ash because he grilled all the meat! He was beat!

A few days before taking the return flight, Ash and I went snorkelling with my aunts, uncles and cousins. Unfortunate, I didnt get to take pictures but I can say that the corals and fish were absolutely beautiful.

It was Ash’s first time snorkelling and he loved the experience.

The weather wasnt that great but we still got some sunlight that lit up the underwater world. We had ice cream and some good from prepared by my grandma.

The last few days of our trip was mostly shopping for things we wanted to bring back, like cheeses, potato chips and other local confectionary like crystalized papaya and mango. Oh and we can’t forget the local salted dry fish. We now have a big stock. Lol.

The day we flew to return we were both really sad but knew that we would come back to Mauritius for another visit one day. Hopefully, it’s gonna be sooner rather than later.

Now I’m back, I will be focusing on the SAC. While I was away, I still was able to write about 12 posts within 30 days. Not so happy about that but We all need to slow down once in a while.

This definitely slowed down my progress but from here on out, it will be nothing but hard-work!

I want more visits to Mauritis. Lol.

Thanks for reading and for sharing in my joy of visiting Mauritius. Would you now consider going there for your vacation?

Jane

It was my pleasure, Jane.. :) Yes, it was a lot of fun! Glad you liked the pics. I wish you the best.

Thanks Reyhana

It looks beautiful. I'd love to know how the weather is year around. Do they have all four seasons or is it more tropical? I agree with you that it's nice to be able to get away sometimes, and it's also nice to cherish your family members. It's so great what you were able to accomplish with your Wealthy Affiliate earnings! Keep it up so you can write some more engaging travel posts like this. Fun read!

The weather is at over 30degrees celcius during the summer and does not go below 15degrees celcius during the winter. So it's pretty warm. So no, Mauritius only has 2 seasons.

It felt really wonderful to be able to pay for this trip with my WA earnings and it felt great to meet family that I havent seen in a long time.

Thanks for reading, Tiffany.. :) I wish you the best.

Good afternoon my friend I absolutely love the pictures that you share , and the food oh my God how hungry you have just made me I love Indian food may you have a beautiful day and a very successful week

Hello Earl. Yea I know! I get hungry all over again each time that I see the pics. Thanks for sharing into the joy and have a great day as well.

I wish you the best!

What gorgeous images. Love those beach shots and the sky is so blue!

Right? Now imagine seeing them live!

Wow, looks like it was a blast and that the two of you had a great time.
The food looks amazing.
We would certainly go if the scuba diving is good. We love tropical places!
Thanks for sharing these great pics!
Colette and Philip

Haha, it sure was.. :) We had an awesome time. It's always about the food, lol!

Yes, there's a lot of places where you can go Scuba diving in Mauritius. The water wasn't as calm this time around. It's best to go earlier, in February to March, when the water is much calmer for scuba diving.

If you love tropical places, you'll sure love Mauritius!

Thanks for sharing beautiful pictures of this lovely place! I can imagine you loved it and can’t wait to be able to go back. It is so good to meet the family and relatives that are far, far away. Glad you enjoyed your stay and had such a good time! Wishing you all the best with the SAC!

Anytime, Jessica.. :) I was looking forward to sharing it with my WA family...

Wishing you all the best in the SAC too..

Very very nice 🙂. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks, Olufemi.. :) Yes, I enjoyed my vacation a lot! It was much-needed!

Hi Reyhanan, thanks for sharing your trip, especially the images. That is a beautiful place. I'm glad you got to see your family. You are right. Every day needs to be taken in as we never know when will be the last time we will see family, especially the ones located so far away.

Cal

Any time, Cal.. :) It really pleased me to share the trip pics. Yes, I'm so happy I was able to see them. Being so far away, we never know when we might not ever be able to see them again. We take them for granted and think that they'll live forever.

Great to see that you had a great trip!
As a fellow Canadian (Ottawa), I was a bit disappointed with the Toronto Maple Leafs t-shirt Ash was wearing but hey, we all have choices to make!
Next time, I'm sure you'll want to stay 3-4 weeks and be able to do so!
Cheers,
Marc

Haha!

The one in the shirt was Ash's brother. We brought it for him. But yes, you're right... that would still be his choice lol

I did stay there for a month so I hope next time I can have an even longer trip. That's what WA is going to make possible for me.

Wish you the best!

Reyhana

😍😍😍

Awesome!! Continue to enjoy your vacation. You totally deserve it.

Hi Stunning.. :) I'm already back from vacation and wish I was still there... lol

Now that I'm back, it's time to work hard.

😃Welcome back. I can see that you really had fun. Just looking at your pictures made me feel relaxed as well.

I think I also need a vacation. 😎 But I need to get some things done first.

Great pics and great posts. Thanks for sharing.
