Home Title Thief is on the Rise

Has anyone heard about the latest uptick in home title theft? Apparently, hackers are able to steal your identity and take over your equity and your home and there is no recourse. You are left owing to pay off the loan and, in some cases, you will be left homeless.

As a first-time homebuyer, this is scary. Title fraud seems to be on the increase. Hackers are getting more and more desperate. They steal the title or deed of your home for their financial gain.

Thieves are becoming craftier. They are access public documents and are swapping out your name for theirs and are getting away with it. They are literally, disposing original homeowners. They put everything in their name and just disappear - leaving you with monumental loans to pay off.

The reality is that it is now easier than ever to use identity theft to take away someone's home that they have work so hard to acquire.

People, specifically, homeowners, are the easiest people to take advantage of because they never check to see if their home is protected against home title theft. As a result, by not having this protection, they lose their home.

I, myself experienced identity theft while in grad school. It was two years before I actually figured out why my account was short oftentimes, sometimes as much as $200. It was not until I received a call from Cal State California business office, that I learned of Identity theft.

Here's what I found out via the phone call:

"We see that you have not been paying for your Cal State box office events and want to know when we you can make this payment? I proceeded to explain to her that I did not attend any events at Cal State for the preceding two years.

At the end of this conversation, I realized that someone, who looked like me, had hacked my checking account and was living it up with my money. If this has ever happened to you, then you know how I felt.

The moral of the story is to do whatever you have to do to protect your account. Same goes for your home title. Protect it with all you got and smash the hackers in their tracks. For some reason they want the easy way out without working for it.

Protect yourself and your home. The choice is yours. Here is a video to help you decide. https://vimeo.com/703406381

Hi Rachel,
I don't even want to imagine how you felt in that situation.
I hope you are safe now, and that this will not happen to you or anyone else.
But it is clear to me that it is becoming a regular occurrence and it is not strange to me. Unfortunately.

I salute you dear,
Slavka 🤗

Slavla,

I have learned so much from this incident and I am way more vigilant now. We get too busy and forget to pay attention to things of this nature.

Rachele💕

Hi Rachele, thanks for the info. I don`t have my own home, I am currently living with family and my plans to live on a boat (which was my dream) were destroyed due to crimes against me by GPs and the British Government. I have always wanted to live on a boat as I love the ocean, failing that an RV will do. All home owners beware, Identity theft is getting ridiculous. Have a great week.

Hi Brian,

Nowadays, we have to do everything in our power to protect our stuff. So, we can't get complacent and must stay vigilant.

Rachele

Absolutely.

Hi Rachele,

This is a sad story, but it is also very accurate.

Those people will always be out there looking for the easy way out.

I cannot believe they have not put a safeguard in place to prevent home title theft. It would be easy enough to make it nearly impossible to steal someone's home.

Have a wonderful day!

Cathy,

Unfortunately, we still live in a dog-eat-dog world. Greed and lack of morals is rampant across the globe. Wish I knew whose breeding these monsters.

It has never been easier to wreak havoc on someone's life.

Rachele
Let's stay vigilant

Ya, I pay close to $200 per year just to monitor this, lol. Which is crazy if you consider everyone who owns a home needs to pay for that. Someone is surely getting rich and it isn't the consumer.

Have a wonderful day!

This is an eye-opening ordeal. Someone is getting rich at the expense of homeowners.

What can I say Cathy?

Ya, I don't know either.

Thank You for the heads up, Rachele. :)

You are welcome, JD

:)

Hi, Rachele

That’s a bad story. Glad you finally got it all straightened out!

You’re right, identity theft is worse than ever.

Please be careful.

Frank 😎🎸

It is still happening everyday, unfortunately.

Yes, can be a difficult world to navigate these days.

Are you using home title lock?

Not yet,

I am still checking it out.
