This is something that has kept popping up in my mind for quite a while.

Thanks for the responses! Gives me a little better insight. I totally get the building trust aspect from a business building point of view. These days building trust, especially on the internet is a must if you are putting out lots of content and selling products online. I appreciate all your responses! :)

I have seen others post this very same question so you are definitely not alone in this thought! I have to say I agree with Rick though. Since part of the significance to our business is building trust I like the idea of at least using our first name!

Hi. I use my own name because as an author I need that name recognition. But I understand some people have reasons not to. That being said, I think it's important to build trust and many of your visitors will check your About Me page. Imagine if they find out you're not who you say you are.

Perhaps you could use just your first name and a picture. But I strongly believe you want to build that relationship..

For the niche site I am doing now i use a pseudonym and an invented background. To add credibility and also to try to pull it off as I couldn't pretend to be an expert in the field using my real background and location.
