What Draws You To Reading A Post?

It is interesting how we are drawn to a specific read and how we respond to the post. You could think of many things that lead you to do exactly that. We are all compelled because of our desires to read and comment.

  • The question we ask before we read anything is what do we stand to gain from reading this post?

Depending on whether the answer addresses one of our neds we may then proceed to read. This makes reading a pleasure and not a forced activity that you are not happy doing.

So why do you take the time to read?

At the end of my post, I thank my readers for taking the time to read. This is cutesy because I have no clue why they chose to read what I wrote as there could be so many reasons. Whatever the reason may be, I am thankful because it might have been uncomfortable to read, one might have made the wrong choice to read.

All readers are on a quest as they read to find some kind of fulfillment.

  • What do you look for when you read?
  • Is it Emotional enrichment?
  • Is it Physical or sociological?
  • Is it to find a sense of belonging?

When we are aware of what makes us happy we are inclined to read for the right reasons. You are never forced to read anything. I sometimes find myself reading something that I am uncomfortable reading but for some reason I find myself reading on till I am done.

Am I fulfilled at the end?

I don't think so, I might be even frustrated I read. So the next best thing is to find something that would help me release the frustration - What about I comment and let the writer know how bad their writing has made me feel. I may not say the words out rite or even intend to say how I feel. But we have seen in Reading Between Lines (the Sequel) how we have the ability to communicate what we do not even intend to say, Unconsciously.

  • Are you fulfilled at the end of your read?
  • What do you do when you are?
  • and what is your response when you are Discertisfied?

As you go into you your next blog and you decide to read or not, read part of the blog and stop.

  • Was is it your choice to read or were you forced to read?
  • Whatever the reason may be, what did you intend to gain, and did you get it?

Too many questions, I apologize - thank you for taking the time to read, please do share, Like, and comment.

You WABorothe,

Ntlhane

Hello, my dear, Ntlhane,

First off, it's because of you
as I do know you here.

Perhaps, I said perhaps,
if I didn't know you I won't
read the post or article.

Secondly, the title that is
catching and a little bit
questioning drives me to
read it.

Thirdly, an intriguing title
definitely draws attention
to the readers.

This is the second one
and because it's you. :-)

God bless you more, Ntlhane.

Elizabeth

Oh! Liz. Lol. I am blushing. That is so sweet of you. I blessed to know you as well here in WA.

Your contentment is always from the heart and authentic.

I am drawn to Authenticity. I fail to read superficial notes.

Thank you for your, Kind words.

Have a great week ahead.

Ntlhane

Oh, Ntlhane, I'd like
to see when you blushed. :-)

That's good. That means
blood is flowing very well.

Thank you so much for your
kind words and you are just
as authentic as ever too.

You do attract who and what
you are and always remember
that.

So thank you again, my dear,
Ntlhane.

Have a blessed week ahead.

God bless you more.

Elizabeth

lol,

The title &/the opening paragraph. If that is interesting to me whether my Niche or others.

I try to read all the posts, especially toward the end of the day. The reason for my interest is to connect with people after a long stent of being alone and isolated. First of all, I live and breathe information, and I love to hear stories about people. Their lives and experiences enrich my perspective about life, and sometimes I find myself thinking, "how true", or "maybe I should try that instead." And, on and on. I also have a deep interest in psychology and the criminal mind. It fascinates me to see the differences between people and what drove them to form the personality they have. I have watched members of my own family, live their lives from childhood on. I tried to connect on many levels. Sometimes I did, other times I realized they had broken down the barn door and ran in the wrong direction. But in the end, it was their experiences that fascinated me, and sometimes scared me to death, while at the same time because I knew them, I had the power to have hope for them. Just like I do for the people who post their stories here, I have hope, and I care. It makes me feel like I'm not alone when someone invites me to read their post, even if it was my idea to follow. And if you have ever had a time period of solitude or illness, it is always nice to reconnect with people after weathering the storm. I truly enjoy all your posts because of your honesty and willingness to share and include me. I hope in some way this answers your question. Your posts are inspiring and intriguing, so don't ever think of stopping, and most certainly, don't doubt yourself; you have talent! :)

Hey Ntlhane!

I usually read the title as well.

I also usually read at least the first paragraph to know whether to keep reading or not.

When I finish reading, I usually try to find something constructive to say to add to the conversation.

Many Blessings :)

Zach

Thank you for sharing Zach,

Ntlhane

You're welcome Ntlhane!

Many Blessings :)

Ntlhane,
When I read a post, it is sometimes the title that cause me to make that choice
But sometimes, the title is disconnected from the actual contents

However, they are points to bear in mind as I do when I'm marking my students' papers.
1. What's their level of English?
2. What is their experience of writing an article?

Even though they may not get their point across, I still read with understanding of what they are trying to convey and so I comment on my understanding of their post .

When I get to the end of the post, I do leave a comment based on my understanding of the post.

Whether I feel content or not after reading, I still try to leave a positive point.

That is interesting, Simone.

I see the level of feedback resembles feedback given at the end of a student's Essay. Thought you might leave a positive comment at the end you would still grade the paper. I suppose an A+ is not the same as an F and for the student who receives an F is as good as a bad comment for them regardless of how positive your comment may be.

Your work as an educator might give you the strength to tolerate all kinds of content levels.

Regardless of how bad my students are I will not be forthcoming with their inability to do well but I am obligated to share a level of concern for the benefit of a learner otherwise I will take away the learning opportunity for the students. I have to be truthful if the learner is failing so that they can improve.

Whether we are positive or not we still have to be harsh/truthful to promote growth. My gratification is seeing the learner grow as a student and improve. That is what all teachers want.

We are all students and as older students, I would rather be told the truth about my failing content. So that I can grow. I have the strength of age to take whatever comes my way.

Would it be good to hold the punches to make the writer feel good about themselves or to lay it out as it is?

I don't say be hurtful and malicious, but being truthful goes a long way.

Thank you for your input, and sharing.

Ntlhane

I think you misunderstood.
Let me explain

When reading someone's post, I give a positive comment
The points I raised above are only in relation to reading a WA post

On the other hand regarding my students
1. We have now moved away from giving a negative feedback for students.

2. I do prefer to hold a one to one session and have the student explain to me their understanding of the work that they did

I use that time to explain step by step, clearing all misconception, to enable the student to understand, not repeat the same in a next assessment and promote learning and growth

We need to be careful of how we speak negatively about a student's work

Using a positive explanation instead and getting the message across that what they did was incorrect is seen as a better solution in the long run.

This is done as they sometimes incorrectly assigns negativity to themselves instead of the assessment given

It is the same about WA blog. If I feel that I can positively encourage a member , I will, without hesitation. I am never a fan of giving false hope. That will never be my style

But if the member need to be corrected, I prefer to do this privately via PM because I am always thinking of the mental health status of the person receiving the comment or feedback.

I hope this clarifies

It Does Simone, Thank you for that.

Ntlhane

You're welcome
