Thanks to the community here at WA, I have been able to resolve crawl errors in Webmaster Tools but now a new type of error has arisen.

It says I have 11 warnings in my S

HI, i tried out your page http://insideexpat.com,
And home page was loading pretty long what i mean by long :
when i entered your site address and pressed enter i was waiting like 20 or so secs with blank screen (waiting for response)
then site popped up pretty quickly, but images were still loading - you might consider resizing them and uploading smaller sizes for first page display only.
Then i tried from menu :
Destinations/Cabarete and again ~20 seconds wait time then page loads fast
same thing with "cost of living" - ~20 seconds wait then page loads fast - what is interesting there was only one sentence there - like two lines of content.

So it might be something with theme. Maybe try setting up same thing on ribix and check that response times with just theme loaded and populated only with posts without pictures - between click and page load, BTW if you do that ---> turn off google indexing (on rubix site)- we don't wanna duplicate contents right ? :)

off topic - Looks like my city goes head to head with Dominican Republic hehe, only difference - there is summer most of the year and here the winter is comming

Thank you. I'm going to try to figure out what this all means. This is my first site. When you say re-size the photos, do you mean use the thumbnail option?

I don't have content in every area just yet though I am working on it with articles. The cost of living area is coming but it's a lot of research. What city are you in? I'm in Richmond and right now it's all rain here.

Oh... The front page pictures are definitely a theme issue. If I do not load the larger sized photos, the pictures will not fill the entire space in the area where you see the 3 picture composite. Not sure what else to do as I like this theme. I do have a lot of plug-ins... maybe I can delete some and that would help???

Hi, resizing - look up for some free program that can make your pictures smaller then upload them and try to use them.
Usually pictures that have 3-5 MB size can be resized to below 0.5MB when you want to use them as thumbnails. This can give considerable boost to loading time, but i doubt it will change that response time(that first 20 seconds when nothing is happening)

Thumbnail option - don't know - it might work, try it out on one post. empty cache and reload your site, you will see if this photo loads up faster.

But if you cannot load smaller pictures then ok, leave it as it is, or try resizing them like 50% - it will make them 4x smaller

If you have many plugins it might help deactivating some. You can check one by one ,(deactivating only one at a time) if there is one particular plugin that makes this response time such big issue (it might be that easy)
I would create empty site here on rubix (it is easy and test site is really helpful without breaking your site) . Load only this theme, and create similar pages structure (no content in it just pages structure).
Then I would check if this theme is slow or not, then you can try to add one plugin, then another and this way check when the lag starts.

To do that i would recommend to use chrome with "incognito" mode, or similar mode in your preferred browser. This will prevent your browser from caching your site, so every time you close tab with your site, it will loose all data stored on your computer. And opening new window will similar to clearing cache.

Hope that helps :)

The "Add New" function on WA does not include all themes available. If I want to add a specific theme not listed on WA, how would I do that in order to load it here?

1. You buy it and download it to your computer. It'll be a .zip file.

2. In your WP admin panel, go to Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload

3. Click the "choose file" button

4. Choose your theme's .zip file and hit INSTALL

It'll take a minute to install, but when it's done it'll be in your themes page.

You can also do it via FTP. Do you know anything about FTP?

I did a training video about themes

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I will buy it from wordpress I suppose. That said, if I download it to desktop, it will be available in appearance/themes? I ask because when I am in that area of the dashboard I only see the free themes included and not a place to add outside new themes.

Once you've downloaded it to your desktop, it won't automatically appear in your WP themes. You've to upload and install it first to your WP. The others have told you how to do that. All you have to do is follow the instruction and you're good to go.

Hope this helps =)

Hi Randy,Depending on where you are buying your theme you will get a link to download it.I download mine to my desktop. After that go to your wordpress dashboard to appearance then themes and you can upload your new theme from there.

Thanks again, as always

I am asking this question as I do not understand who google looks at 4-5 words strung together and whether or not at that length, it is pulling results for people looking at ot

I'm still a newbie myself but I got an email yesterday from Kyle & Carson giving me a list of domains that had high traffic and low competition. Most of them were three words or more. None were over five.

OK, then I guess it comes down to how narrow or broad of a subject area you can cover with quality content. That seems to be where I am at. Thanks, Jalal.

I wanted to know how to set up amechanism for people to join my mailing list for a weekly update with an auto respond on it for joining as well as to send out a weekly mailing.

Aweber is a pay for email software its very reasonable..
http://www.aweber.com/

You can use mail poet that has a free subscription: https://www.mailpoet.com/

Mad MiMi works good to. free also: https://madmimi.com/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/mad-mimi/

Ok. I will check it out. How do they sync to my menu?

You have to pay for an autoresponder and they send out the emails for you. The two best as far as delivery rates go are Aweber and Getresponse
Catherine

I will look at those and the free one

The free ones do not deliver - that's why they are free. I have been down the free route i n the past and ending up losing a list of over 10,000 several times. Save yourself the heartache and pay, a list is a very lucrative piece of real estate don't jeopardize it

Ok. I can understand the importance. Amazing that you built up such a big list multiple times! I'm just starting out.

Building a list is not that difficult keeping it with a cheaper autoresponder is another problem

Hi Randy, Aweber would do the job i think.

Thank you. I guess that's a plug in. If I add it in widgets, how would I get it to sync to my menu or somewhere on my site?

To get anyone of those on your sidebar just go into appearance-Widgets and you should see a widget for one of those emails when you sign up.

But the sidebars are different from the main navigation area at the top of the screen?
