Forgetful or Procrastinating?

Introduction

Good Evening to all you lovely people at the WA Family, as always do so hope that you all are keeping both safe and well, as we suffer another total lock down. If people would do as they are asked I am sure that we will be able to live our lives with more freedom before too long.

Did use this photo on Saturday, but feel that as tomorrow is actually Remembrance Day, it is still very appropriate.

Despite my misgivings have been very busy, some private and personal, some business or being involved with my role as the local Branch Chairman of the Royal British Legion.

When you read what I have actually been doing and discovered, the title to this post will be self-explanatry.

The Last Three Days

Sunday morning was spent at the local War Memorial Gates, intended to just lay my wreath and recite the homage, however around 100 people decided to join me. My bugler, a former Brigade of Guards Silver Trumpeter also came complete with trumpet, as did my Standard Bearer with Standard.

Though I kept things to a private level, not involving anyone else as we had been instructed to do, it became a very respectful few minutes, with the last post being played and the colours dipped. Everyone present kept a safe distance. Was surprised by the number of local councillors who attended, it appeared to be just a normal Remembrance Day as far as they were concerned. Was pleased to see the Chief Executive of the Council, with two of his staff also there, we at the Legion do have a very good relationship with him, he is most supportive.

Think that I mentioned the other week that our service was in fact being recorded by a film crew. The finished video appeared on Sunday, timed so that it began at 1100, with the Town Clock striking eleven, it was really well produced.

Knew that the Central TV had asked to see it, the result was yours truly had a brief cameo role on Friday evening on the news, did not see it, but my son phoned up to say that they had.

It was quite moving to see the traffic stop during our little Act of Remembrance, as this year we could not close the road, but they still paid their respects. I often remark that this area may have been better known for its coal and clay mining, but they are truly respectful of the military service of their parents and grandparents, not forgetting those who are currently serving.

Had a look at my new website, found a sub-domain that I can start to concentrate on, as a result as I was looking for a book that I have written, came across the reason for the title of this post. Found a number of half started side hustles, thought of websites and other ideas, nothing has been finished. So after giving myself a good shouting at, have decided to go through all these little half finished ideas, to see what can be completed, before I keep making more work for myself, and completing either sub-domains or websites.

It is possible that they can be used to extend the website material, but until I look do not know the answer.

Still not quite clear why nothing has been finished, unless I got either bored or forgetful what I had done, and where they were. Will make a plan of these I come across and spend just thirty minutes on each for now, that way I can decide what to continue with.

Sometime ago I floated a Limited Company, four years ago to be precise. Decided that it was a waste of time and effort, not to mention money, so applied to have it closed, due to the virus this has taken longer than usual but it is now officially closed. This afternoon finally signed of the VAT closure as well, so that is a good job completed.

Have also spent some time on research and training.

The Next Four Days

Tomorrow morning I will be back at the Memorial Gates, paying my respects during the silence to those members of our family who gave their lives during both wars, not forgetting my friends who have given their lives since.

As mentioned above will be looking at the half started work which I have found, not sure how much is there, but three or four a day at thirty minutes each, should begin to eat into what I have started.

Would also like to continue my training on both social media and blogging, as I have found a first class article on the subject, so will read it to ensure that I am blogging correctly, this I doubt very much.

Will have to really prioritise my time from now on, as I have the feeling that there is an awful lot of work to be carried out. So will undertake nothing new until I have really got into what does need to be finished.

However will not neglect the new website totally, intend to look at the planner daily, in the hope that this keeps the mind fresh and focused, not letting it become another half finished project.

Conclusion

Despite the short time available to work on the business do feel that I have managed to begin to achieve little steps again. But I must learn to concentrate a lot more on what I am doing, and stop going off onto a new subject before the old one is finished.
