Appraisal process for new home

Good afternoon:

Last week has been one of the hardest weeks in my life. I am moving to a new place where there are many uncertainties. I have lived in South Texas for over 25 years and it will be my first time moving up north to the greater Austin area.

I didn't think moving would be so difficult because I have hopped from one apartment to another apartment. I got the paperwork done with the W2, 1040, 1099, and other documentations needed.

Well I was wrong!!! I think moving into a new house is more difficult than anything else. Buying a new home is a hassle because the loan company ask you for so much documentation. They ask for any bank statements you have, liquidation, stocks, retirement funds, investments, and assets you may have. I thought they would make it easy on you since you are dealing with the sales agent for the lender. After sending the documents to that sales agent, the loan specialist ask for the same exact file. I don't understand why they ask for the file that you already sent.

I think they should make it simple since they are in business to make. Your job easier. What made it more difficult was when my loan specialist told me that the area I was moving to was in a flood zone. That got me thinking about moving into the neighborhood. I don't know about you, but I think I would know what a flood zone looks like. I did not think the area that I am purchasing a house would be in a flood zone.

I get on the phone asking for quotes for insurance, flood insurance, home insurance, any type of insurance. I feel like I have to be on the phone constantly just to get the quotes I needed.

After working with so many agents, I had one guy from Geico ask me to buy some extra insurance. I didn't know what to say because he would not go forward with my quote. He insisted that I need to have this personal identification insurance so that I could be safe. I politely told him that I do not need to be buying any products. He insisted that I need to get his product and would send me the quote. I told him that I will not be buying the product and that I wanted to get the quote. After the 30 minutes conversation, he agreed to send the quote and give me a call tomorrow at 11:00am.

Well tomorrow came and he never sent me a quote nor called me for the product. I thought to myself, "He was trying to rip me off and get away with being dishonest!" I called again and worked with a different agent and was able to get a quote. Same issues occurred and never got a quote.

I called Allstate and they were able to get me a quote but the deductible was too high. I can't believe that in order to get a good price I need to pay 5,000 dollars out-of-pocket. I was thankful that they were polite and gave me a quote that I needed in hand.

I finally talked to my Real Estate Agent and referred me a local insurance specialist. I have to say, it is better to have a partnership with people around the community. I feel that we all are trying to make money to feed family, pay debt, and live a great life.

At the moment, I am going through a lot of changes in my life and I feel that it is difficult to handle. I am writing to let everyone who is reading this blog know that every day our characters will be tested. Each day, we just need to keep getting better and think about the goal ahead of time. We will go through phases in life where it feels impossible, but it is not how fast you get there but how you finish. The battle is not won yet, but I know that the goal is within reach.
