Grateful But A Bit Frustrated and Confused

I'll begin on a positive note. I'm very happy with WA, grateful for the training, especially the training by Kyle and Jay's Friday webinars. I can't begin to express my gratitude.

I'm also grateful to everyone in WA. There are a lot of good people here.

Oh yeah, Happy New Year to All. I hope we all have a great 2020.

This is not my first time with WA. It's my third go-around. Frustration was what led me to leave before, although this time it's a different frustration and circumstances are completely different.

This time, I'm concentrating like never before, trying to follow the training exactly as it's presented, to the letter if possible.

Therein lies my frustration and confusion. At least part of my frustration is because some of what I'll write here are things I used to know and have forgotten. I don't absorb and retain information as well as I used to. I have no explanation for the confusion.

I don't fault WA. I don't fault myself or anyone else. I simply don't understand some things and am not sure how to ask the question(s) I need to ask. I feel overwhelmed at times because there is so much to absorb and it sometimes feels like information overload. On the other hand, I realize, I need the information but sometimes, if not often, don't understand what I'm being taught/shown etc. It sometimes feels like I'm speaking a different language. I can only imagine how difficult it is for those who don't speak English. BTW, ironically, I teach adult school English as a second language (ESL).

So, without further adieu (as Kyle says), I'll get right into things. I hope this doesn't come across as a rant or a complaint. It's not! I will simply throw it out there with the hope that I can get some or all the answers I seek.

Keywords and meta

I'm confused about this. I understand what keywords are and their importance. I understand and practice the importance of having the keyword in the title, the first paragraph, and the featured image

What I don't understand is how to create titles that utilize the keyword, are not boring, and stay under 57-60 characters.

Example: On my website healthyseniorcitizen, I have a post with the title

Healthy Tips Senior Citizens Use For Their Fountain Of Youth

The low-hanging fruit keyword I found in Jaaxy was "tips senior citizens use".

My questions are:

  • Does my article get ranked under the low-hanging fruit keyword, the title I created that contains it, or both?
  • Do I tag my featured image with the low hanging fruit keyword or the title?
  • Do I need to tag alt text with the keyword on all the images, or just the featured image?
  • Which alt text do I use, the low hanging fruit or the title?

You Tube

I have a few channels that I set up a few years ago when I was with WA before. There are many videos there. I know how to upload new ones and have. In fact, one of my videos is ranked on page 2 under the title "you don't need a fancy nut butter grinder to make awesome nut butter". I also have an article by the same title, based on the low hanging fruit keyword "nut butter grinder" on another website: mixednutbutter.com

My questions are:

  • How can I edit my videos so they're 3-4 minutes long, not 25-30 minutes long?
  • How can I edit my videos to display my website url?
  • How can I link my website(s) to videos I post on You Tube?

Amazon

At this point, as per the training, the only affiliate links I'm displaying on my sites are from Amazon that look like this:

I know they have banner links and lots of different links and ads.

My questions:

  • How can I link specific products from text in an article to a url on Amazon rather than the abouve example?
  • Is there a generic Amazon link that allows me to link my Amazon affillitate link to text in an article?

I did a product review: "Hamilton Beach 70610 Food Processor--Affordable". The only affiliate links are like the ones above. I think it looks tacky.

That's All For Now

It's not to say I won't have more later. The probability is very high that I will.

Whether or not you're able to answer any or all of my questions, if you've read this far, I appreciate it.

Thanks for reading.

Happy New Year.

I wish you all the best in your journey.

I hope you get it all sorted out, Robert!

Thanks.

How is your book coming along

What book?

It's coming along slowly--it's a compendium of characters, places and things for my first five serial novels. I also have volume 6 ready to release any time, but it'll probably be March or April, Jeff!

I suppose you have to create your characters first before starting to write your book

Well--I kept notes on all of them and the invented places, etc. Now that I've completed a full five volumes which total are around 1.500 pages, I figured it was time to put together a book on the character and places and things! I call it "People, Places, and Things" with a subtitle. BTW good to SEE you--like the profile pic!

Jeff

One of the members talked me into adding my photograph to my profile, so now everyone knows who Jeffreybs really is

Writing a book sounds complicated

It's not too bad! I started out with 17 smaller novels price lower, but then decided to lump them together into 5 different books--number 6 will come out in March and it has part of those seventeen. I have several legal pads with continuing books on the series and the hard part will be deciphering my handwriting!

My handwriting is pretty bad these days as well, I can't read my own writing at times.

Do you need to patten books before you can legally sell them

If I can intervene here: You don't patent books. You patent ideas. Books need to be copyrighted. If there's no copyright, people can plagiarize the work because no one owns the rights.

Thanks, I was out for a while, but yes you're absolutely right, and mine are copyrighted the moment they are written--same as if you've written a book, etc. The difference is mine are also registered with the US Government copyright office, which means they are also copyright protected! Thanks for chiming in on that though, Robert!

I answered below Jeff--I was out of town for a bit!

Thank You
I hope you had a good trip

👍👍😊

Take Care

You too, my friend!

Hello,
what you want to do is use your keyword you are trying to rank for in all your alt tags in all your images as long as you are not overusing too many images in your posts.

I usually use 3-5 images max in my posts depending on the length of my post, I also use my keyword in the first paragraph or the first heading in bold type to help search engines know what keyword I am ranking for.

You should choose 3-5 keywords related to your topic and add them to your meta tags at the bottom of your blog post draft

If you can find keyword phrases that fit your topic that is even better and will ease your anxiety and work trying to come up with good titles.

As for your headings consider what are you going to share in that paragraph and use a heading that tells your readers what each paragraph is about.

As for the videos that you will need to contact someone who uses Youtube to create their own videos, I have not added video marketing into my marketing strategies since I am doing well just using other people's videos in my articles.

Be sure to be using internal links that will take people to other pages on your website such as other posts you have written, and use external links of bloggers who are authorities and links to other websites with resources that will help your readers.

Limit your use of affiliate links to 3-5 at the most, you will actually hurt your ranking by overusing too many affiliate links

Limite banners on your website since it not only makes your website look spammy it will also slow your site and people don't stay long on a slow site

Add pages of value for your readers and use them as your internal links, and most of all don't get hung up on all the tech stuff write your article first and then add your images and links last

I hope this helps
Jeff

Thanks for your reply Jeff. My follow-up question is, how do I add Amazon links other than the kind I have now. I'd like to be able to add text links that connect to a url.

Bob

Stop running.

Slow down and just work one only step at a time as you have too many subjects on the go at once.

Learn one and practice it again and again.

Life was not meant to be easy so do not rush it.

Hi Tom,

I'm not rushing. Thanks for your comment.
