More often then not I cannot use this help process. For example, I just tried 6 times, changing the title, changing the classroom, closing and opening again, waiting 20 minutes

Your question needs to be a certain length, and have a question mark. The prompts should tell you what's wrong with your formatting.

Though it can be annoying, it prevents people from asking ambiguous questions like "Need Help!" and "How make money?", which can mean higher quality questions and higher quality answers.

Hey John,

The following tutorial may offer you the help you seek: Hope you find this helpful.

In Wordpress, general settings there is a drop-down menu "New User Default Role" with several choices, how do I determine with one, there is no explanation of what they represe

You will not be adding new users to your site, so it's not important what this setting is. Just prevent new users from creating accounts.

Hey John,

Not sure why your website is showing a blank. As you can see by my screen print below, there is not supposed to be a blank.

What role did you want added?

My website does not show a blank. It has a drop-down menu just like yours. The question is, which one do I choose out of the selection provided? There is not "?" that explains each nor was it discussed in the training.

If it is for YOU, then you want to be the Administrator. Huh, I was sure Kyle showed that in his training.

The other Role's might be if you had a team of people with different types of responsibilities. For the list of who gets what access, you can Google search "wp subscriber role access" (without the quotation marks, of course), changing our subscriber for editor, etc.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks, I will try that search in WA and see what comes up. Thought I followed every step Kyle did even stoped the video and rewound when needed to keep up.

I'd be surprised if it is... which is why I suggested Google searching.

Having run a publishing business over 6 years... well, if it had not been for the ability of being able to search the internet for information, I do not believe I could have accomplished what I did.

Glad to hear that you are taking advantage of stopping videos and backing them up when you need to. I've had to take lessons all over again due to having missed info the first time through.

Themes, themes, themes --- thousands of them ! anyway, can appreciate the 'frustration' with it .. me too! ... finally, a WA Ambassador LeeM. has just developed a training video on themes 8.38 minutes of viewing time ... filters are the key ... hope it helps you as I've found it helpful ... :)

thanks will stop what I am dong and watch it.

wonderful! ... you're most welcome & hope u find the vid. helpful... all the best, cheerio... :)

Hey John, its just like Steven said below. Each theme has its own default settings and then various settings that you can manipulate and change, like color, navigation, sidebar, full page, menus, etc, etc. What I recommend is to use one of your free
SiteRubix websites to use as a test website. That is, Find a them you think may be the one you like. Build a website and name it testsite, blah, blah, blah. Put one post on it, one page, then you can test different plugins to test on the site to see how it responds.

Since everything that is changed or added to a theme effects its looks and how it responds to visitors, how fast it loads onto a page, even what it looks like in different browsers. Perhaps try opening your website in a different browser. It maybe just your default browser.

I use a test site to test different objects before I add them to my real website. This way I avoid bad surprises.
Good question, I hope this helps you.

MrMorrow & kmer6, Well so much for "you can build a website in 30 seconds" and why the secrecy about the what is really required. I don't mind the work but don't waste my time leading me down the yellow brick road to the wicked witch of the north of upsell that makes you think you need to upgrade or you will never ever get your website to work. What you are saying is scary. It sounds like I could spend months trying to find a template that works when it took me almost 2 hours searching to find the one I wanted to you. You made a good point that I should first start in SiteRubix websites to use as a test website, but why was that not explained at the start of the teaching....it would have saved me 4 hours!!! Now that leads to another question since time is money, would buying the template upgrades solve my problems? The theme I chose out of 4 different versions, all free, it appears that the one I chose does not load but the ones I don't want load just fine. Who do I contact to get that fixed?

There’s probably a load of options you need to play with . Those templates are examples of its potential

Need a website that has a search feature that customers can set the parameters for the product they want based on gender, type, cost etc. Do you know if there is one in the tho

Hey John,

That's where the "Category" option can help you. Then simply add your category labels in your website menu.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks Triblu, I saw that and wondered to what extent it would search through all the products and show them base on the request for example:
Male, tall, blue, $

LOL dynamic search functionality! is that what it is called LOL

must have missed that class LOL need more coffee

Ahh... yes, now I see your dilemma. So... WooCommerce wouldn't do that for you then?

What would be the correct technical term for what I need to help me search for it? Also since I am planning to market Amazon products do you know if they provide it? I saw an Amazon-Wordpress but we don't seem to have that in our list of website templets. Any guidance pointing me in the best direction is appreciated.

You could search using the following (without the quotation marks, of course): "ecommerce wp themes".

Not sure exactly what you mean by "market Amazon products". If you want to add amazon affiliate links, you need to seek their approval of your website. No one else can do that for you.

Yes there are Amazon wp themes available too. You could Google search "amazon ready wp themes" for those themes. Again... search WITHOUT the quotation marks.

yes I do, yes I did and hopefully, I have that covered.

Triblu, I found what I need it is a WooCommerce Products Filter. My question may sound dumb but websites are not my expertise especially with all the new names and terms, will there be a problem loading this plugin within the WA WordPress templets?

The ONLY dumb question is a question not asked John. We are ALL here learning at one level or another... so you are not to worry. Learning the proper names given to techniques and things like themes, plugins, etc., will help you wording your questions as you go, I'm sure.

Glad you have a resolve... YEEEEAAAAH! :-))

I'm having fun, learning is a trip. It can be stressful when I struggle with connecting the dots but when they connect it is fireworks and excitement to fill the brain with more stuff.

I couldn't find anything through Google. That sounds like an interesting plugin but my guess is it might be a premium one if it exists.

I learned something old, what I need is a filter and it is available as a WordPress plugin WooCommerce Products Filter. Hopefully, it will work with the WA Wordpress templets. Hopefully, it will be an easy process to set up. As I understand it, it uses tags in the product description which I will probably have to manually add to the products. A lot of work but kinda fun actually. New stuff - gears and motion all exciting, the inner working of the things we take for granted.
