Log Nº3: On Research & Target Audience

Has it ever happened to you that the more you read about something, the more you feel like you have a lot to learn?

That's what I've been doing.

Now, research has taken me back to one of the most basic points: the need to have a specific audience in mind. This is the point where everything goes from being theory in a book to taking actions. (Unfortunately I have a bad track record of not knowing what to do at this point, heheh).

Many tutorials and tip lists recomend having an "ideal reader" in mind and writing for them specifically. This advice is given to developers and fiction-writers too, actually. It's meant to both guide de initial design (before there's something to test on actual people) and keep creators from falling into the trap of trying to please everyone (which ends up not being pleasing enough for anyone).

So, next step: making a profile of this "ideal customer".

And I happen know a specific (real) person that would fit that role perfectly...

With that, I'm off to find my victim. *evil laugh*
