There are times I find questions asked by others on WA that I want to return to later (ie someone asked for feedback on their site) when I have more time to review & respond. I hav

I was using this "star" scheme for questions asked, so for the time being it works. But did not figure out way to save comments as those of yours below. In many cases they contain a lot of very good stuff.

I've started to click on the Star under the title and next to the gear icon, in a WA post. Then enter tag description and then 'Add Tag'. Then when you want to find your tags, you click on the Star in the top question bar, and there are all of your Saved Tags.
Now, if you figure out a way to find the time to re-read all the information that you save, I will be forever in your debt. ;^)

I had a similar problem so what I do is I write out manually, the topic or subject, together with the author/name of member who wrote it and if there are comments or links id like to return to later, I write that also down. you can also copy and paste into a file in 'word' which you can name 'WA' . at times I go to my history on the left side of the screen for previous activities if its within the same week. cheers

You can bookmark the specific blog post permalink by clicking on the title and capturing it in your url browser, and then you would have to scroll thru the conversation to relocate the comment or question you wanted to engage with. I don't know of a way to bookmark a specific comment ... if anyone else does, I'd be interested in knowing how, too.

Bookmark within wa for something I want to return to?

ONCE I have the written permissions for use of (c) materials (which I will have shortly), is there a way to add music to the website? I have searched through the topics already dis

Hi Pam! I'm not familiar with adding music to a site, but I would also recommend against it. On top of the reasons given below, music playing can be bad for anyone accessing your website from a work computer. Also, copyright laws are a mess and can bite you hard if you slip up.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with. :)

I've seen a few people here ask opinions about music on their site's and the consensus has always been unfavorable. Personally, when I visit a site and music starts playing unexpectedly, it always startles me.

Thanks ... helpful to have for input, and a good reminder we are to build for our audience, not our personal taste.

You could add a background soundtrack. But, I would advise against it.
The reason is that more people are accessing the web from different devices than ever before. These devices usually connect through a cellular connection which isn't all that fast in some area.
So, if you have a sound track that loads it will slow down the connection speed. People and search engines don't like slow.
On the flip side, someone may not like your taste in music.

These are the responses I appreciate ... honesty! Thanks for your input as you mirror one of my concerns (slowing it down). I know I personally get impatient if a site I'm trying to connect doesn't load right away -- and I click away from it.

I know it is only 2 responses so far, but you two are convincing me to forget the music portion!

If I wasn't being honest, I would make a lot of enemies. ;-)

Yep!!! And it isn't like you two are "making" me think different ... life is a choice. But sometimes we must open our mind to hear what others are saying, and then choose to listen and incorporate, or completely ignore!

One of the common threads I have been seeing while clicking all over the WA site is that people are helpful .... not hurtful! Thanks all!!

Hi Pam,

You can sign up with https://soundcloud.com for free where the music would be stored and then you can embed the music within the site similar to embedding a youtube video.

I personally wouldn't recommend having music in the background though, because this could serve as more annoying to your readers than a pleasant experience.

But try the soundcloud option and see if you audience likes it.

Thanks Jay. I appreciate your perspective on a possible negative on the music. The other part I'm concerned about is bandwidth and slowing down the site if I do add music.

You're welcome Pam,

Bandwidth wouldn't be an issue if you use soundcloud (or any other 3rd party music housing website) because it is stored on their servers.

Bandwidth would only be an issue if you were to upload the music to your own website and play it automatically.
