I've seen different bullets used in others' websites, but I'm not sure if that's because of the theme, or if there's a way I can set my bullets to appear differently without ha

It's something related to theme, you can't do much about it. It's like font as well.

Thank you, that will be very useful.

I haven't seen a selection here but maybe people copy file in from a word document ?

Check out the link ElwinDutton posted! It's an awesome plugin :)

I'm currently on Course 4, Lesson 3. Does anyone know when I can expect to learn how to set up an email list

Email marketing is huge and definitely something you should start as soon as you can- in the regular training they don't cover that as much but there are tutorials by members and jay has some email marketing training if you do a search.
Give this a go... Nat

Nat,
Thanks so much for this!
Ashley

You're welcome Ashley :)

Creating email lists (current practices) is a wastage of time. You create lists, spend money on aweber like services, aaaaaaaaand
Now! how many people do you think would actually read the emails. The time and resources can be spent more productively.

Definitely NO to that. According to many of the top marketers I am following on Social Media, building email lists is the only thing that really lasts forever. Of course, and there I have to agree with You, You have to know what to do with Your leads on the list. You have to learn (or just know) how to entertain Your following the right way and nudge them in the right directions (where there want to go and where You want them to be).

Cheers,
Kay

I certainly can't say anything from experience, but many successful sites I follow use mailing lists. They offer products and services through email and I know I click the links every now and then. For example, the Pat Flynn email I referenced was specifically about creating solid email lists and how to engage with viewers that way. (I clicked to watch the video tutorials) He said the biggest mistake he made early on was not starting an email list sooner. He said that there was a week when his site went down and his email list was how he stayed connected with his followers. Personally, I think if email lists are done correctly you can definitely appeal to your audience in that way.
Ashley

YESS, Yesser and Yessest Ashley!
Kay

lol, I love the enthusiasm :P
Ashley

I don't think You have to wait. If Pat Flynn shows You how, just do it. Every visitor is a potential subscriber to Your email list. That's my opinion.

Other than that, Your question was when it will come in the training, and I cannot tell You unfortunately ;o)

Cheers,
Kay

Thank you :) I'll just go through the video tutorials and start my email list. I wanted to get tips from WA as well before starting but I guess I can always change/add to my efforts later. Thanks again!
Ashley

Definitely, yes. All the best to You!
Kay

I am going to wait till I have enough traffic to my site then sign up for an Aweber account ( I am an affiliate) . Not sure how and when but that is my plan :)

Why do you think you need to wait for more traffic before creating an email list? Just curious on your thoughts.
Ashley

Well I didn't wait I joined Aweber just a few mins ago but I have very little traffic to the site so how would they sign up for the list was my thinking. I thought I would increase my visitors then add it and not spend the cash while I was waiting for traffic

:)

lol :) Good for you, though! I think it will pay off in the end to have it done sooner rather than later. Think of it like this, those few people who are already visiting your site are truly interested in what you have to say. They're the most valuable people to have around! They're there for you from the beginning! I think they'll appreciate that you're setting up an email list. Now for me to go do mine :P
Ashley

I'll work on getting it set up on my site after the walking dead mid season premiere tonight grinzz got to have my down time

lol, you do you, boo :P

No idea, hope you get the answer soon. I'm on Course 3 lesson 2.

I hope it's soon. I got an email in my inbox for a video tutorial for setting up an email list from Pat Flynn, creator of smart passive income.com, and I watched the videos, but I wanted to wait until I got to that step in the training. I just need to know how long I'm going to have to wait! ;)

You could use the search bar above and check pieces of training in the classrooms. There will be Jay Videos on email list too.

Thank you!
Ashley

Welcome.

You might try these free pic sites, if you haven't already...

I find a lot of great images at pexels. (They have a lot of images that would fit into a 'business' setting.)

You may also consider taking some of your own pictures and uploading them to your site. (Think what an attribution to your own name would do!)

Craig

What niche are you targeting? Not all image (photo) sites are very expensive, Ashley. Maybe you are being too "picky" or selective. Or maybe your niche is too narrow. Here are some of the best free stock photo sites worth investigating: Pixabay, Unsplash, StockSnap, Flickr, and Pexels.

My niche is related to resume writing and I'm often looking for business/professional images. I will take a look at some of the sites you mentioned, thank you!
Ashley

Hi there,
I have read your post with interest and I can feel your pain....
I got this email this evening and it sounds pretty interesting,
They have a good offer going if that would interest you,
I had an account with them and as a result I recd the offer
If you open an account there, you may also recieve this offer
It runs until 1st Feb.
please see attached images of offer,
Cheers......PB

Thank you for this! I'll check it out and hopefully it will help :) I appreciate you looking out for me :)

My best advice is to move on. You can sit and look for images forever without finding them, but one day when you are doing or reading something completely unrelated at some other website somewhere you will find out where to get them.
Make a note to yourself where you need to improve with pictures and go back and fix it when you find them. And change them again if you find better pics later.
Just don't loose the momentum in your progress.

Thank you! I'm going to look into some of the suggestions people have given me but if I still can't manage to find what I'm looking for, I'm going to go with your advice. I keep a notebook with ideas for my site that I'm constantly writing in or going over, so I can add my note in there. Thank you!
Ashley

The notebook is a brilliant idea. I use the same method myself, except I use the Todoist app for that :)

Why type of images are you looking for and where have you looked so far? I mainly use pixabay and Flickr. Flickr has much more variety, but sometimes you have to get creative with you search tactics.

For example, I was helping someone with their website and they wanted images about business communication. How do you find an image for that? After getting sick of photos of people in boardrooms, we widened the search with different tags. Why do we do business comminucation? To #negotiate better #deals, to have a happy #workforce or #workplace. What do we get out of good business communication? #Confidence, better #networking, etc. Asking ourselves some questions helped us think of better image tags to search for and we ended up with a better variety of images.

I hope that helps!

I'm looking for very specific images because I can see them in my mind, but don't have the photography skills nor access to the objects to take them myself. I'll try to ask myself questions like you mentioned to see if I can find related images that will work. Basically I did a google search for "free images" and searched through all of the databases that popped up on the first page, including pixabay. Thanks for this!
Ashley

Hello
I had the same issue when I started. Have you tried using Canva to create your images? They have a number of free tools to use and you can mix and match elements to make them unique.

Now I don't like to promote any paid sites to WA members but I use a paid site for my images called Graphicstock. I find it to be reasonably priced and easy to access. It cost me $99 for the year for unlimited downloads, no restrictions except you still need to modify them, so I tend to use Canva or photoshop. You can see my review on my work from home website that I have listed in my profile.

Loes has listed a number of free options here: Cheers
Paul

Thank you for the response! I downloaded the Canva app and tried to access it on my laptop, but to be honest, I don't know how to use it :/ Do you know of any tutorials I could try? I'll also check out graphic stock because $99 per year seems reasonable. Thank you!
Ashley

Canva does take some time to get the feel of how it works but I find it to be one of the easiest for upload your images, take the ones in the template out and have fun creating...much easier than Photoshop ;)
The Cool thing with GraphicStock you can download all of their content 300 000 plus onto your computer then get to use them forever.

It is true, though, you don't want to focus on photos and images too much at the beginning. Writing content is where you will gain ground with your online business.
