I already have my idea for a niche, but I want to get some ideas about design and layout.

My website is a mix of blog posts and product reviews but my websites theme is not specific to it. I use the Product Review plugin.
There are some themes and plugins that are made especially for 'selling websites'
https://www.woothemes.com
Or you can use a different theme, like a review theme, and add the WooCommerce plugin.

Hope this helps :)

You caan check out mine I have products. http://winningincomeandmoneyonline.com

My website is also built around selling Travel accessories but I try to blog as much as I can on Travel news and my journeys. I have also affiliate links but always trying something new, its the only way I learn :)

But I find that my facebook page is a great source of traffic for my website too. https://www.facebook.com/boardingpassjourneys

My website is built solely around selling my neurological based program for fixing back pain. I am always updating and trying new ideas and layouts. Not a lot of success so far though.

I only have a few affiliate links for recommended products such as books and supplements.

Hi Brad, Your website has great info and definitely the books Grain Brain and Brain Maker is worth a read. :)

I got a comment 7 days ago and I promptly made a reply. The comment was posted on my website pretty quickly, but my reply never showed up on my website. The site comment feat

I guess with the new wordpress the comments section is a little cranky. Just try this. Whenever you reply to a comment after clicking the "reply button", if there is no reaction, just try to refresh the page and see if your reply has been removed from the "Pending approval".

Then, go to your website and see if your comment reflects.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!
Jack

Sounds like problem resolvef!

Sometimes it takes a little time for them to be approved and recorded.
Marilyn

I have just gone and tried it out seems to be working fine

No, I just requested 2 reviews yesterday. Both reviews and my replies where approved and are on my website. Have you approved the reviews?

Ok, hit the approve button and it's fine now. Thanks.

I had some problems a few days ago when I was approving comments and they were all posting to my website with my replies but then showing here that I hadn't approved then,

That was maybe 2 days ago? But all working fine yesterday again for me. I haven't tried today.

But yeah there has been some glitches recently.

I have a Facebook page that has 2,334 fans on it. But it's been a few different things and I was told that I should create a sub-page so that I could focus on my niche more ef

I hope that you get this all figured out and squared away

I have a separate business FB page (no cost to maintain at all)--just to promote my website. The advantage is you can advertise it too with FB for as low as $7.00 to boost your page for the sake of having visibility and awareness. But they are too strict in rules and requirements. Having a business page is better so as not to mix with your personal FB page.

investigate setting up a fb group

Learning from the responses here. Thank you for sharing.

I have a personal Facebook page and a business page. They're separate, but sort of tied together because I created both under the same user name. When I publish a new post, I use the share buttons on my blog to post a pic and paragraph to my timeline. Several of my followers then go to my site to read the content. If I were you I'd create a separate page for your blog/business. I don't have any where near 2334 followers, but if I did I'd want to use them for word of mouth if nothing else. You should also keep a personal page, so you don't alienate any of your current followers who aren't that interested in your business right now. They could be later.

You should be able to do it through your profile, by clicking on create a group. Hope this is helpful to you.

I think I am just going to change the name of the FB fan page. I'm not seeing how a sub-page can be created or how it would work anyway.

I'm not sure if changing a name of fan page is possible. In what kind of niche you are in? If it's internet marketing niche it is a very competetive niche so if you will decide to create a new fanpage it would take you a long time to get so many followers as you have now.
However you can have as many fan pages as you want so creating a new one does not hurt anyone and you will always have a place to post links to your website.
I thought that you may take this into your consideration.
Greg

Thanks for your comment. It's a fan page and it's always been dedicated to my coaching practice, so it's not a huge switch, it will just be more focused on Weight Loss now.
I do have several fan pages, but this is the one with the most followers.

good question

I joined WA a little less than a month and it's great. My site is michaeljallman.com and the site is about my EFT coaching for weight loss EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Tec

About the facebook page. If I had a page with 2000 visitors, I would make a new one and then promote on the old one my new one. That way people won't get mad and quit because I changed the page, but they could like your new page if they liked your niche.

I know it's hard starting out a facebook page. I'm at that point at the moment. :)

Actually I already changed the name and I did lose about 30 fans, but I'm quickly making that back up as the site gets more focus. Thanks for your comment.

How did you start getting those first few fans if I may know? I am struggling with it at the moment. Did you just let them sign up through your website or do you have some kind of a different approach?

I paid for FB ads and built them up bit by bit over time. But I found the FB (and FB in general) so inconsistent that I've gradually given it up. I'd rather do things ons Twitter, Pinterest or Google+ now.

My Site health is 'pretty good'. Everything is at 100% except site trust (which I guess I just have to wait for) and plugins. I have 6 plugins and the rating is at 70%. Do I r

Maybe the low rating is just given because the more plugins you have, the slower your site loads up.

This is a very interesting question. I'm not exactly sure on this one. However I don't feel that an up to date and compatible WP plug-in would cause a lower rating. Specifically the ones that have been recommended in the training. You only have six and they should not be having a negative impact, unless they were really incompatible with your theme.

This was my interpretation, too. Use the plug-ins you need be aware of the site speed.

If you go through all lessons you will collect about 8, and a few more will be added later. So there is no way to sat at 5 and there is no much reason either.

No, there is an almost unlimited number of free ones and also paid for ones available. Many more then you ever can use. Just sign in to you WP website and click on Plug-Ins and then New! The suggestion is that you use no more then five on your site for performance reasons!

I think Jay suggested no more than 10; can someone correct me if my memory is wrong.

Those rankings are just a guide lines, don't treat them too literally.

You can have as many plugins as you want, just keep in mind that some plugins can hurt performance pretty badly when installed without care.
Of course your site health will go down with more plugins.

Just make sure that any plugins you install are compatible with your theme and WordPress and have been updated recently. If you update your theme or WordPress the plugin may not be compatible with that version.

Thanks for sharing, this is a question of interest, will wait for the experts to respond.

No, as you progress with the training, there will be other plugins that you will be installing. However - choosing your plugins carefully is key as these can slow down your website.

No you can install as many plugins as you want.
The thing is that if you put too many, it will slow down your site, and site speed is a ranking factor.
But dont worry to much about this, put the plugins you need and rock on!! :)
