Kyle has Jaaxy Enterprise, we, by default, have Jaaxy Light - they look slightly different. If you want to see what Kyle is using, you'll need to upgrade to Jaaxy Enterprise.

I meant to say that Kyle is using keyword search under tools and services section of WA as per the screen shot below.
That appears to be an older video then - WA used to have a separate keyword tool from Jaaxy. Recent updates integrated the two tools into one - there is only Jaaxy now.

Even successful internet marketer like Neil Patel would suggest to target a specific audience, get to know them pretty well, and answer all their questions through your blog.
I wouldn't say one is better than the other. I've seen both approaches work. I once took a tiny segment of the huge insurance industry and built a site that made $1MM/year for my employer. I also built a site that was the definitive source for fireplace screens (how's that for niche!).
As mentioned, the key is the audience engagement. Is this something they would purchase? Do you know enough about the topic to be a passionate authority on it? If those answers are yes, you're good.
