$725 While I Slept. Can I Do $800 for December?

Nine days ago, I posted that I'd made $500 in the past 30 days from the sale of one little book on Amazon.

And it was truly passive income while I slept, as almost all sales are in the Northern hemisphere and I'm in the Southern, where our Christmas is in the middle of summer.

I wanted to find out if there was any interest in a course I proposed creating, covering publishing on the Amazon platform.

There was.

Now up to $725

I'm now up to $725. And that's also for the past 30 days, so doesn't even include all of the previous $500, as some of that will have slipped out of the 30 day window.

I'm hopeful of doing $800 for the month of December.

I've now published four more books and, although they haven't yet gained the traction of the first one, it took a while to take off as well.

Amazon Publishing Course

I've decided to create the training in three parts:

1. How to structure your book to make publishing it as painless as possible. This will cover, amongst other things, using Styles in Word, the best fonts to use, the ideal paper size and how to get your covers designed. It will also cover what not to do. And surprise, the first one is something you're encouraged to do when you first go into KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing). I encourage you to use single-sourcing to make the best use of your time.
   
   
2. How to publish your book, both as a POD (Print on Demand) paperback and as a Kindle e-book. I go over all the technical details, with illustrations, and provide a guide to pricing and royalties.
   
   
3. How to do a book launch and how to promote your book. Now, this is something I have no experience with. Yet. With my first book, I just published it and hoped sales would eventuate. I did spend a little money on advertising. I've learned so much since then and will apply it to my next book launch and then include it in this part of the training.

Timeline

The plan is to have Part 1 available in January. I have an idea that you're supposed to be a WA premium member for 6 months before you can publish training, but I'll approach Kyle and Carson to see if I can get an exemption.

Part 2 and Part 3 in February.

February is also when I plan to launch my first work of fiction. It's an adult novel and I'll be applying everything I learn about book launches and promotion to it.

Your Plan

Remember what I said about single sourcing?

Here's what I suggest. If you've got a WA website with a reasonable number of on-topic posts, you've already got the makings of a book.

Assemble your posts into a single document and give it your topic as a name.

Organize it into chapters.

Do more research. Add more chapters. Copy them out of the document and use them as more blog posts. Let one feed off the other, so now you are using a single source (research) to add to both your book and your blog's reach.

And if your blog has a CTA that allows you to capture email addresses, you've got a valuable resource for your book launch. Either paid customers or contacts who will give you a good review in exchange for a free copy. And good reviews = more sales.

I intend to take my own advice about single sourcing and expand the course into a book about becoming an author and publishing on Amazon.
