My domain is with Namecheap but my hosting was with WA.

This happened to me awhile ago, email Kyle they will try and restore your site, though it might take some time.

Not really sure what you are asking. If you haven't started the website yet you need to create it here at WA, first you need to point the DNS to WA. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-transfer-domain-name-to-wa

You can find your websites after they are create in your websites and hosting area, there is a tab for that or you can follow the "Build my Website" tab.

I made my 1st website in WA in 2013. I even made it to number one on Google for a week. Then I broke away from WA for about 6 months. I rejoined today but my website is gone, It still shows in Namecheap as my Domain but when you type the domain into Google search this is what comes up.

WA Hosting:
We regret to inform you that the domain entered into your web browser is not setup on this server. Please ensure that the domain has been added through the WA Hosting section. If the domain has been setup, then please report this issue.
To log in to your domain Control Panel, visit the the Wealthy Affiliate site and log into your account."

That is probably because you were gone for so long. They only keep unused sites on their servers for so long. PM Kyle or Carson

Yea, WA only hosts up to 30 days after you left. PM Kyle or Carson, they should be able to retrieve it

How can I change the name of my website?

I see you got answers :)

that's what I really thought but I wanted someone else's opionion. Thank you Karyskis

If you are talking about your domain name, you can't change that unless you purchase another domain with the name you would like.

If you purchased a domain from a Domain Registrar there's no way to change once you purchase it.

If you obtain a siterubix.com subdomain name free from WA, you can not change the name. What I suggest is maybe getting another similar siterubix.com subdomain and start again.

Cheers!

Doesn't updating your theme sometimes change to look of the theme? I am using Twenty Ten but if I update won't it change the appearance to Twenty Thirteen?

Can't say about this theme but a seperate thing to keep an eye on if you do a theme update is your Google Analytics and Bing Webmaster Tools ID's set-up.

I did an upgrade a few weeks back for my theme and I started getting zero traffic. Confused me for a bit until someone suggested to check it. In the process of upgrading the ID's where removed. I put them back in so no major issues but just something to keep an eye on.

Yup, great point, although the training does encourage Members to insert these into the fields of the All-In-One plugin, rather than adding them into the header of the theme. :) Rich.

Ah, you have me there Rich :-)

I think I initially did it based on the sticking the code into the header, can't recall where I got that from, prob Analytics.

I now have it in the SEO plug in though so hopefully no problems in the future. I nearly had a heart attack at the time when my traffic just flat-lined lol :-)

I mustn't have been paying enough attention in the training first time round, D'oh!

LOL, I can imagine! It used to be that you had to insert it in the header prior to the fields being available in All-In-One, and you still need to do this for a lot of affiliate and advertising verification programs, so again, your point is incredibly important, that if you've customised any code in your theme, it will be lost if you change to a different theme and sometimes it can even be overwritten at a theme update. :) Rich.

Thanks Rich ... it's definitely something i'll be keeping an eye on in the future :-)

Thanks Colm and Rich. Your points are very helpful.

I would just like to say, that I also use child themes for my modifications.

So whenever I create a website and install a theme, I immediately create a child theme structure and put there any customization I make. Either in a css file for design alterations or in a header.php file, in case of additional code inserted.

This way, when I update my theme, my modifications (design or coding) stay intact.
Viterbi

P.S. This is from WP codex, explaining more about child themes:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

Yup, child themes are one solution, the problem with them is that you need to use FTP and theme updates then need to be carried out manually to the child themes. It's often a bit too complex for newcomers with little technical knowledge. :) Rich.

Agreed

It shouldn't, Twenty Ten and Twenty Thirteen are entirely different themes. The updates usually fix bugs, add additional features, but they shouldn't radically change the appearance of your site. :) Rich.

So if I am using Twenty Ten and update it will still be the same Twenty Ten. Is that what you are saying? You have to excuse my technical illiteracy.

Thanks @RICH!

Thanks @RICH. I had used the theme Twenty Ten several years ago and I liked it. I lost that web site and recently started over with the same general site and it took me a little while to find it.

Tried to log in, No wayno! tried to creat a new account, no wayno!

Hello success2010:
I try to register and found I'm already registered so I tried to sign in but wrong password. I click "Forgot Password" and it asked for my email which I type in and it says (Password retrival information has been mailed to you).
I tried several times last night and 3 within the past 30 minutes or so. I never have gotten an email. Yes! I checked my SPAM. I even checked all spam then deleted spam so if it comes in it will be new. Still nothing!

Do you have more than one email address?

There may be a current blip in the system. It happens occasionally. I would try clearing your cache though - rebooting and trying again.

Beverley

I just logged in had no problem...I would like to help but I need to know what steps you do. But I think I won't be able to help you it seems like maybe it's with your side ( the computer, or your carrier for the internet ) check everything you can to eliminate any problems. I hope this helped. Good seasons to you

I'm getting ready to start again in a few minutes! I'll let you know what happens. Went to bed frustrated last night.

I've found loading the site has been a bit slow the last couple of days, but apart from that no problems.

I couldn't get srarted either,,this weekend.
Using Firefox!
So they must have some kind of problem.

Hi petryss--is your browser Firefox? There are less problems if you open Street Articles with Firefox.
