Some audits do this in a very poor way. Some will see your menu navigation that links to a page and then perhaps see your Recent Posts that link to the same place and call it a duplicate. I try not to have more than one method of getting to the same page or post.

That´s interesting. But does Google look at it this way? Would it think it was seeing duplicate content? That would be bad for my rankings.

Help needed from the coding gurus among you please.
I fiddled with my parent theme on the Templates error 404 page. Now I have messed it up and my website shows a blank w

I'd back up everything then:
1) Change your theme to Twentyfourteen
2) Delete your preferred theme
3) Reinstall your preferred theme as if using it for the first time
4) Activate your preferred child theme

OK, thanks Marion

I would suggest to put in a support ticket and ask them to replace I with their latest backup before doing anything else.

Thanks for your suggestion, Tommy.

Hi I was playing around with the free Moz toolbar and discovered my site has a spam score of 6 out of 17. This is not good but I'm not sure what to do about it.

Deta

If your site is new, MOZ will show that. Not to be concerned just keep plugging away and you should see it come down with added authority on your site.

Oh, thanks Labman. That's reassuring. I was rather worried. I'll rest easy and keep on going.

Hi everyone. I created my gravatar in WordPress and associated it with the correct email address for my site. The gravatar doesn't show up anywhere on my site. I have tried

In Settings - General, have a play around with which option you choose where it says default avatar. I've actually got mine set to mystery person and it works!

Hi Kathy I noticed that the gravatar was working for one email address but not the other, so got that sorted out on gravatar.com (I thought I'd already sorted it but doing it twice seemed to do the trick!) Then it still wasn't working on the site so I had a tinker around in the options as you suggested, refreshed and it's working! I'm not sure what I did that made the difference, but after I clicked "refresh" I was good to go. Another little challenge overcome, with everyone's help.

Great, glad you got it sorted!

Hello,

You also created a user with that mail address in your site her at WA?

Grtz,
Bert

Hi I already am the user with that email address on the site. Do I need to do anything else?

Can you please check in settings - discussions at the bottom if show avatars is selected?

Grtz,
Bert

Hi Bert Avatars is selected. My comments have the default avatar for users without a custom avatar of their own. :-(

Hi,

A good idea just came into my head: Can you delete all the cache of your browser, but really a good clean-up and check it the icon appears afterwards...

Grtz,
Bert

Hi Bert I did clear the cache, but I will try it again and see if I can take my clean up further too. I only recently was off line for a long while because I had major computer problems. The whole computer had to be wiped and reinstalled just last week, so I am not confident that a good cleanup will do anything. However, it is certainly worth a try. Thanks for your help.

Just went back to Gravatar.com and I could see there that my gravatar is working for one address but not the other. Trying to resolve that one at the moment. Think the problem must be there.

Just a thought...I had the same problem for a while. What user are signing in with in wordpress?. I remember when I set up the 2nd user I had to use a different email. When I left comments with that user my gravatar wasn't there. I went to my gravatar account and associated the same image with both email addresses so that it doesn't matter which email I use the same image will appear.

Hi I am signing in with the user that has the correct email address. I just don't know where I'm going wrong.

Thats all I got. I just registered all the emails I use and used the same image for all of them to solve my issue.

I have a total aversion to social media, but I have forced myself and I now have lots of "friend requests" on FB. Some of these look a bit dodgy as they involve people wearing ski

Hi Adrienne, I'm a lot like you. Very new to social media and not really sure how to build a large following without just clicking on everyone who wants to be followed. Like you said, a bit confusing.

Most confusing, and I'm still not sure whether friends are the same as followers or not.

Generally speaking, your personal page will have friends, and a business page will have followers. They are the same thing fundamentally, but on a business page you don't get to approve who follows you, whereas on your personal page you do. Hope this helps....?

I think I sent you a friend request yesterday. I haven't worn a bikini for around 40 years :D ~Marion

Hi Marion I hope you realise standing about in underwear is a no no as well..That's good - I'll catch up with you on FB when I figure out how to use it!

I'm often at the computer in my PJs :) OOooops!

That's fine, just don't take a selfie.

I now keep FB just for friends and family, it didn't work for me. After getting a few "proposals" and some VERY dodgy videos and images I deleted my page.
Twitter works best for me, along with Pinterest. I use G+ but it's on my list of things to learn more about, how to use it to good effect.

Hi Kathy I haven't had any proposals yet, so now I'm feeling sneeped. I'm very new to Twitter, and getting on OK with Pinterest (it seems fairly normal). I am getting the distinct impression that like you I won't be on FB very long.

Hi.. I am going through the same exact thing. I'm social-media-stupid! I've had an easier time with Pinterest and Google plus, but I'm still really struggling with Facebook and Twitter.
Can I be your Facebook friend? I promise I'm fully clothed in both my pics! And when you get your page up, I will be your first follower.

Hi Angie It's really difficult. Like you I seem to have had it easier with Pinterest and Google+, but FB I have always found to be stupid and pointless and part of the reason I am using a pen name on these sites is because of ignorant trolls in the past. My page is up and you can certainly be my friend with pleasure. You will probably be the only normal one on there. Keep your clothes on and no shots of you standing silhouetted in your negligee against a brightly lit window either!

I found you, but I can't find your business page to like and follow you.

I agree with Beauandnik totally - set up a business 'page' and keep it totally separate from any personal stuff. Don't quote me on this, but I think the way Facebook works is that you have to have a personal account in order to be able to set up a 'page' but it's well worth it.

Good point Rud

Hi Adrienne
Good question, one I often think about.
Facebook is good to build a network.
When someone sends you a request, you can view their profile before accepting.
Then you can build a network of likeminded "Friends".
also, if you can choose what you want them to see individually, which makes it even better.
I hope this helped
Joseph

Best way is to create a page. This way you can have friends and family attached to your personal facebook account and a separate page associated with your website for followers.

Hi BeauAndNik I created a page just to promote my website. I have no interest at all in a personal FB account but I am still unsure as to what the benefit is of lots of "friends". If they are not "followers", will they still see the stuff I post? Is it worth having a lot of random "friends"?
