Diane has you covered in her comments below, if you want to offer feedback on a website, you are better off sending the member a personal message with the feedback.

But keep the comment relevant to the content of the post and not give feedback in it.

Hi - well, first of all, it sounds as though you were offering feedback on his site, which is not the purpose of comments. You should be engaging with the article, as though you were a genuine visitor, and interested in the subject, and bear in mind, it will be published.

In reality, when most people make that error, the site owner disapproves their comment outright, and of course, too many disapprovals gets you banned from leaving comments in the future.

It is the site owner's choice as to what he does with your comment. He can approve it as it is, reject it outright, or approve and make changes.

Unless you are prepared to drag this out into an argument with the site owner, which may make you feel better, but serves no purpose in the end, I suggest you put it behind you. Simply make a note of the website name, so that if you are offered the same one again for comments, you can avoid it.

Thanks Diane, I'll be more careful going forward. So just to be clear, I am commenting on the article based on the Offer Comments section, and they've asked for feedback on the article. Would I still get the credit if I sent him a private message? A bit confused here, I've offered feedback on articles before without it being posted on the person's website.

Hey Peter,

Without know an exact theme and plugin combination I would not know how to help you with the "why" it won't work.

You could try Google searching "wp sidebar change with every page or post" (without the quotation marks, of course) and read through a few of the posts offered in the search result to see if anyone of them might be able to 'shine a light' on this topic for you... maybe even offer you a suggestion that will work.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks Triblu. Do you have a blog theme that already has a sidebar on right hand side on the Home and About Me page? Primarily I want to put a photo or link it to a Youtube clip.

Hey Peter,

Here's a great way to find what you want in the way of a theme: Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks, yeah that was what I did in the end and did find another theme which had the sidebars on all the pages already and I modified them. It's definitely the particular theme I was using and not the custom sidebar plugin. Thanks very much.

Peter

Did you change the name servers?

I transferred a domain from go daddy and had to change my name servers. It only took about 24hrs and haven’t had a problem or error.
Hope this helps

Thanks Tiimm, had to log a ticket for support in the end. Turns out WA's domain providers don't support .nz domain names, so I had to leave them with GoDaddy, but add in WA's name servers. Once we have the site up we'll test, hope it works
