Page 20 to Page 1 - And All by Adding a Single Video
Hey guys,
Hope you are all well and staying safe in these crazy times. Like many of you, the one advantage I can take from this whole self isolation thing is that I have had more time at home to get on top of all those website related things that seem to be forever moved from one to-do list to the next - such as doing videos.
I recently sat down and started adding videos to my posts (it really is not that hard - more on that below) and with it, started to notice some massive changes...
- Video 1 - post went from page 4 to page 1
I stumbled across this as I searched where it had been to see how the video looked. So I did some more.
- Video 2 - page 6 to page 1
- Video 3 - page 15 to page 2
- Video 4 - page 20 to page 1 - this one was amazing
- Video 5 - page 6 to page 2
This is amazing results and my traffic is climbing noticeably (I have been doing that and releasing about 4 new posts per week).
So, how did I do it?Ok, let's just jump straight to it - this is what I did...
1. Video Sitemap
Before I did my first video, I submitted Video Sitemap to the search engines. For me, I had to upgrade to All in One SEO PRO to activate it but I do know that Yoast and others have it as well (not sure if purchase is needed).

2. Videos and YouTube
A little while ago, Jay did a live training session on YouTube and how to work it in with your Site for the best SEO results. To be honest, I followed those steps. That training is below:

I mean I could spend a while writing it all out, but to be honest, the above will get you there way faster...
3. Re submission to Search Engines
Once you have completed your video, embedded it into your post and completed the in YouTube processes as per Jay's instructions, then you must resubmit the post via Google Search Console and Bing webmaster tools.
But I can't do videosOk, as I was watching the above live training video, I did not a lot of people commenting on how they didn't feel comfortable doing a video... My advice, apart from watching Jays other live training on Videos and YouTube, is to just do it.
I shoot all of mine on a mobile (cell) phone on a small tripod. No microphone or lights (I sit facing a window) and I just turn it on and talk. I know some can't do this so write a script and practice.
It is uncomfortable at first but to be honest, as you see your rankings increase it certainly becomes a lot easier.
Anyway, just wanted to share with you something that may help your SEO.

Excellent I have spent Saturday working on my first video with my daughter Flora, she knows about lighting and direction and production and stuff. So we had fun and didn’t something useful, She is also my editor so she is now sorting out the bad bits and making me look like Mel Gibson (mmmm perhaps more Mel Smith to be honest). I am very heartened by your figures and I am looking forward to doing a bit more with video.

I was launched into online meetings with videos during this lockdown.
If I can do live meetings Monday-Friday at 9 AM, I certainly can do one a week on my site.
Of course, I have a bag over my head while speaking... LOL
