I can't resist adding my favorite kangaroo story... may have told it here before. When I was in my mid-20s, I lived in Berkeley, California. At one point I got a job in the Alameda County probation department and I usually carpooled with a friend who also worked there and lived near me.

One morning as we drove across Oakland, a kangaroo was loping along the side of the road we were on, luckily not a freeway. This was decades before cellphones, so my friend pulled into a shopping center and found a payphone. She called the police and reported the kangaroo.

We were late for work, and our excuse was met with considerable skepticism. But there was a zoo nearby that the animal had escaped from. And the story did have a happy ending.

Hi! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading your story.

Great Story Rosanna, we have plenty around here - they come into our front yard even.

Reminds me though of a time when we took our kids to San Diego Zoo and they were complaining of being hungry.. So we pointed to an exhibit and told them to go and look at whatever was there and we would go get a snack.

When we got back they were laying around looking bored - we were carrying on "Look at that - we come halfway around the world and they cannot show an interest".

It wasn't until we go to where they were that we had inadvertently sent them to the Kangaroo exhibit... Funny how a novelty for some is everyday life for others..

When they saw a squirrel however...

Cos they have so many of these marsupials in Brighton UK....
But I like the guidance, not sure the city folk in Sydney would expect to see them on their daily commute.

I love the Aussie take on things, down to earth wit and dry sense of humour....sorry if that’s stereotyping and an over simplication of your great nation, no offence meant... 🤗

They do not go onto city streets but they are generally closer that people realise - golf courses etc.

And absolutely no offense taken - the trouble our politicians are having here is that "she'll be right mate" attitude. Although we are sadly not seeing it our supermarkets at the moment...

One kangaroo kick should keep you 1.5 meters away.

haha, they stand 6 foot high so maybe further

I love it!! Now I just have to find a kangaroo. 🤔🦘😊

Cool, I will comply with the kangaroo between us.
