Wow! Into the last week of a very long first month of the Challenge. What a challenge it has been!

Things I Learned

Top of my list of things I learned is, "I don't know everything"! In the process of learning a new skill, I discover something else I don't know, which wasn't my primary focus. Learning in itself brings with it peripheral knowledge.

I can write, and people do read what I write. I worry about this all the time. Is this a common trait with writers? Are we that insecure? Note to self: I must finish reading Stephen King's book - "On Writing: A Memoir of The Craft". I purchased a digital copy awhile back, and it has been gathering metaphorical dust!

Affiliate Marketing (or any form of marketing for that matter) is a numbers game. It doesn't matter how bad you are, someone will read what you've written, someone will convert to being a customer. How many will buy from you is a question directly related to how well you write, how well you convert. If you are good at marketing, then the ratio of conversions is low, if you are not so good, then the ratio is high. But, there will always be conversions. There will always be a buyer, somewhere.

In the early days, when we are new to this game, we have to write hundreds of blogs, but in doing so, our writing improves. We write better; we convert better. More people read our articles. The more that read, the more that convert. Our growth become exponential.

All we have to do is follow the Wealthy Affiliate training and keep writing, blog, after blog, after blog. It takes time. Just like any successful business, it takes time to build up this momentum. But, after a couple of years there will be no stopping.

My Favourite Song

My favourite song from 2016 was "Try Everything" by Shakira. Hands up, all those who have watched the animation movie, Zootopia? There's a lot of motivational messages hidden in the film.

The line I like best in Shakira's song is "Bird's don't just fly, they fall down and get up". Have you seen a slow-mo of a small finch flying? They undulate like on a rollercoaster. Fly up, tuck their wings in and fall, and fly up again. They repeat the cycle until they get where they are going.

There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Explainer Videos

Explainer videos are a must, for Content SEO. Whether it is in the form of animation, screen-capture, or facing the camera, we need to be adding videos to our blogs. There is no doubt about it; Google loves videos (when it comes to ranking).

Many of my articles that I have been posting to my website are without videos. Sadly, I have been avoiding them! Realising that this cannot continue, and I need to practice this skill, I published a new training video "Upload a PDF to WordPress and Insert as a Clickable Thumbnail" on Wealthy Affiliate; this was as much for my benefit as it was for yours, but I hope you get something out of it.

Things Don't Always go to Plan

It's been an up and down week for me. A rickety train-ride of emotions, forcing me to look deep inside myself. Once I could accept my short-comings, then I was able to move forward.

I have completed 95% of my tasks for this first month's Super Affiliate Challenge to my satisfaction. I am in the process of writing my last few posts, and that completes this month's tasks.

My keyword list is over 50 and continues to grow. It was tough in the beginning, but now I see keywords everywhere. All thanks to Jaaxy! I am so pleased I upgraded to premium. I couldn't afford it until I realised I was subscribing to something I hadn't used for some time. So, I cancelled that and upgraded Jaaxy! It is well worth the switch!

In Conclusion

There are opportunities everywhere. I'm better than I think I am. There is no need to worry or become impatient. Follow the plan (stick to the Wealthy Affiliate training) and keep writing.

Marketing is a numbers game!
