Registering with amazon & amazon UK

I already had an affiliate account with Amazon UK and I wanted to cover my options. I was told I should register with Amazon US.
Well, last night the deed was done! I'm now an accepted affiliate with both sites.
One strange event though. I used my home landline but it was not recognised as valid. I got locked out for 15 minutes and had to try again. I did this again 15 minutes later but still no joy. I then tried my mobile (cellphone) number and hey presto! I'm registered.
