Never Let Yourself Be Defeated

Being an affiliate marketer can be frustrating. There are a lot of new skills to be learned. Some of them I've mastered, some are still a struggle. Frustration sets in, and I want to give up! To keep going, I decide to take a rest and go for a walk, as it is such a beautiful day outside.

There will always be challenges but never let yourself be defeated. Take a break!

Affiliate Marketing Is Frustrating

There's a lot I don't know. I've had a frustrating morning working on my website. One moment Google page speed told me my Mobile speed was average. The next minute Mobile PageSpeed was 99. I spent a lot of time chasing my tail looking at my website, trying to fix errors that were not there. Probably it was a server issue and nothing actually to do with my site.

The frustrating thing was that I allowed these distractions to interrupt my writing. My morning was, therefore, not as productive as I meant it to be.

Looking south towards Snaefell mountain.

I stopped several times to take a photograph along the way, a lovely view of the mountain - Snaefell.

Dictation While Walking

I like the dictation feature on the iPhone Drafts app. I'm out for a walk to get some fresh air, and while I am out walking, I can dictate my thoughts. There's no need to fumble for a pad and pencil. If I weren't able to record these notes, then by the time I got home, they would quickly be forgotten.

It doesn't matter whether the notes are rambling. I can now save these as small sections of thoughts, and when I get home discard those notes I don't want, and I can use those that I do.

If Drafts dictation app works as well as I think it is, then I will have to consider cancelling my Dragon Anywhere subscription and continue to use Drafts. All these paragraphs are just snippets of dictation I recorded while out walking and edited when I got home. The editing was simply re-wording some sentences, and re-ordering the paragraphs.

Going out for a walk was a good idea. The sun is shining. It's not too cold, about 17° C (63º F). I'm feeling a lot better already. I'm 64 next month, in a couple of weeks, and I find walking very therapeutic.

Conclusion

I was out walking for over an hour, and I covered about three miles. By the time I got home again, I was tired, but my frustrations had evaporated. So I leave my website alone, my site is okay, and I return to my writing. Dictation is going to work for me!

Environment makes a different

I can connect to what you are saying.

Great approach to handling those frustrating times.

Going to look into a dictation app. Great idea!!

Enjoyed this post. Thank you.

Hi Paul,
What a great post! And so true! Your experiences sound like mine, especially when I can't solve a challenging situation! My mantra: "Keeping everlastingly at it brings success"! Continued success to you!

There is a sure therapy for handling stressful conditions, step back or take a deep breath and relaunch.
Sometimes, we need to cool off.
It really can be frustrating, particularly when things go wrong and you don't know what else to do.
We will keep pushing, success is certain eventually.

Wow, dictation sounds awesome. Is there a similar android app? I would like to use it. Awesome post.

There are quite a few in playstore, just check out reviews and the easiest to use.

What a great idea, to dictate while you are walking. Good for you for making it work.

Today I'm taking a long boat ride, and will try to do some writing while on the boat...however, I'll be using paper and pen.

It doesn't have to be length prose. Just jotting down ideas before they are gone will be enough. Don't forget your pencil sharpener!

Is this ap only for iPhones? Thank you for sharing. My fingers are starting to get stuff from typing and I need to start using some voice to text ap. I do know about dragon, but have not actually downloaded it yet.

It's an Apple app. It syncs with all devices using iCloud. I tried several apps before I settled on this one.

I wasn't looking for a dictation app, that was just a bonus. I wanted the Markdown editor. Then I started to look for a 'simple' editor for rapid note taking and found Draft.

There are many alternatives, and I am sure there are equally good ones for Android. I don't use Andriod so I wouldn't know.

Thanks Paul, I found one and thanks to your blog for the reminder. I am going to walk and talk now on the beach ( might be a bit mad looking to others while doing it lol).

You'll get some funny looks 😆

Just smile sweetly and think "I'm making money doing this!"

Thanks will do that 😉

When I was in sales many many moons ago, I'd tell my sales persons to record their sales presentation on a tape recorder and listen to it to find the faults & corrections needed. Today I am a walker and your suggestion is spot on. Wishing you the best.

I haven't looked at that option on the iphone, I will be, thank you.

good advice! yes, it sure can be frustrating! :) I'm with you!
