It's Been a Funny Old Day
Some days start like an Apollo launch. Other days it's like walking knee deep in mud! Well, today was a bit of both. It started off so well, but then went a bit adrift! All in all, it's been a funny old day!
After yesterday's successes of SEO copywriting, I was looking forward to attacking today like storm Helen, that blew through last night. I've been online on and off all day, chatting and helping out where I could assist in Wealthy Affiliate. But, no writing!
Thai Sausages Go Shopping
Jip and I took the long drive into town to do some shopping and to deliver some of her home-made Thai sausages. These are like no other sausages. We love them! Unfortunately, so do the rest of the Thai community on the island. No-one here makes them as well as Jip does.
So after delivering said sausages, it was a quick round of the shops. A stopover at a friends house for a chat and a cup of tea. Then take away pizzas for my boys. Following the long drive home, we were gone for six hours! It was a freezing cold day, and to top it all, horizontal rain. Getting back to a lovely warm home was welcoming!
All Quiet On The Chat Line
After I had warmed up with another cup of tea, I was back online and "Live Chat." Knock, knock! Anybody there? It was as quiet this evening as it was in the morning. A few newbies were pleading for help and some familiar faces.
For someone who is a natural procrastinator, Live Chat is a welcome buddy. I can waste hours on there. It was fun being able to help when it was needed and joking around with some of the regulars.
I still wasn't writing though! This is not good! I need another article to stay on target! I initially, aimed for three this week. I'm struggling to complete two pieces!
My Monkey Brain
My nephew joined Wealthy Affiliate before me, a few years ago. I think we share similar traits. One of which is we are easily distracted. It is something I have struggled with all my life.
There is always something more interesting going on than whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing right now! As I'm typing this, I can see that there is a notification on my inbox. I know it's my nephew. I am fighting the urge to stop writing and have a break to read his email. It's my monkey brain again.
Earlier in the evening, my nephew and I got chatting. He is struggling with his blogging. He works from home and looks after his two pre-schoolers, while his wife completes her midwifery studies, away in another city. It's tough on him to keep on top of everything and steal some time away from his children to put in the hours with Wealthy Affiliate. He does have a couple of outstanding niches! But he doesn't see it the same way I do.
Saved by the Bell
Phil is not my night in shining armour, and I'm no damsel! But, in spending time with him, I snapped out of it. I picked some keywords from my list that I had been building (part of the Super Affiliate Challenge tasks for this month). I'd been looking at these keywords on and off all day. That is what I am going to write about. I feel good, and I know what I am writing.
The headline come to me easily. I then quickly wrote two paragraphs for the intro following good SEO practice. This drove me on, and I started to write out the sub-headings, and move them around so the story I intend to tell flows easy.
Now I had the plot, the content already knew its place. I just need to write it all down. By now it's getting late.
Well I'll Be Blogged
Putting my prepared article to one side ready for me to plough into it in the morning, I decided to tell you all about my day. I feel a blog coming on!
It's now well past midnight, and I should wrap this up. So from going nowhere today, assisted by storm Helen, sausages, monkey business and my nephew, It's been a funny old day!

Thanks for your advice yesterday it was the push I needed and I'll really be looking at mastering Jaaxy.
It turns out that I had some good news from my niche site that I wasn't expecting (I mentioned it on my WA blog) that turned my frown upside down!
As U2 sang, some days are better than others and today I feel much more positive about my efforts than I did yesterday.
That's the amazing thing about the WA community. When you're feeling a bit dejected, there's always someone around to help you get back up there.

More importantly for me Phil, is you turning things around. I was finding it hard until I took action and dared to respond to Kyle’s open invitation for the Super Affiliate Challenge. I knew it was going to be hard, but I really needed a mentor to keep the pressure up and me focussed.
It seems to be working. I am posting content every week and it does get easier.
I’m starting to realise too, that I finally understand much of what I’m doing!
That's awesome. I'm really happy your benefiting from the challenge. Your website is really starting to look good and I think the quality of your writing has really improved since your cable days! It's much more confident and relaxed now.
I regret missing the call for participation because I could really use some help to focus.

Yep, knuckle down (by the way, it too me up to a minute to spell 'knuckle' without turning to the dictionary) and bang off a post for your website.
Or do SEO on your website.
Or research your next post, checking out keywords.
Or use the Google Search Console to inspect goings on with your website
Or use Google Analytics to study the traffic patterns, trying to figure out if there's a way you can improve your hit rate and lower your bounce rate
Or use social marketing to increase the visibility of your site
Or get cracking on that email-led marketing push.
Or leave the house and attend a business networking group to extend your circle of friends and acquaintances who in the end might be helpful to your business
Or, bang out another comment to another WA post, because it's easier.

I'm off now to pour ashes on my head and smear mud on face in self-castigation.

Love it. There is so much going on here it is easy to get distracted and put off the big stuff. You got there in the end, well done.
I hear ya Paul. Mine started off updating my Windows 10 desktop with that pesky 1809 update that kept popping up all week. I thought, well I'll take some time and install it now. So after a half a dozen reboots all seemed fine, except I had no sound! Tried everything Microsoft had to say about it, but none of Microsoft's suggestions worked, as usual. So I had to roll it back to 1803. So that wasted about 4 hours of my day when all was said and done. So I'm putting in a few hours this evening.

Hehe! That was a fun trip - Monkey island, Hua Hin. It's right on the beach. It looks like a big Sugarloaf rock, there's a temple on top, with its proverbial troop of monkeys.
