I Broke My Own Rule
I broke one of my own rules this week - Write Don't Edit!
I am Not Perfect!
Having wasted so much time with perfecting my first few paragraphs, two paragraphs was all I got done! That is not how it should be done, and neither is it how I usually write. I don't know what came over me.
My outline of a 2,000 word article I had sketched out on Friday evening and I was feeling optimistic for the week-end. What I had not foreseen was that I was not going to have much free-time this weekend.
Yesterday morning, I'd set aside time to accompany my wife, Jip, to her friends 60th birthday celebrations, rolled late into the afternoon.
Rather than accept that fact that I'm not perfect, I pushed on with my article, and that's when the problem started. Having planned out my 'perfect' outline, I was going to write perfect prose! I spent the rest of the evening going round in circles!
I went to bed dissatisfied with my progress.
My Son is Fourteen Today!
It is my youngest son's 14th birthday today, and I wasn't ready. I'd got up early and was trying to make up ground. The circles seemed to be getting smaller. When my son, came down stairs and gave me a hug, I realised I wasn't doing what I was supposed to be doing.
Down tools and enjoy my family! William has happy with his new (second) monitor. A gaming screen with a 1ms response time. I set his monitor up for him - pretty much plug and go! One happy boy. One relieved dad!
A Walk in The Park
I have given up on writing my article today and take some time out to relax. Jip has suggested we take a walk around our local Mooragh Park (and boating lake). This seems like a good idea as the sun has come out and I need to focus on something else.
Created a Contact Me Page
I have added a Contact Me page to my website using Ninja Forms and that went well. I am in the process of completing a short training on this process. So watch out for further announcements.
It Can Only Get Better
I'm feeling better now that I have admitted my mistakes, and it does relieve the pressure. So, no article today. I am going to spend more time with my wife and sons instead.

Get it down on paper first and then edit it. When you have ideas piled up in your head it is best, I think, to put them on paper before you forget them. Then you can read carefully, rewrite, and put on the computer.
I write a draft first, not typed, and then revise.
No, I disagree. Don't just slam out words. Make them count. Make them something people want to read. I've written articles which have been published in the top newspapers in the country - I averaged 6.5 million readers. The quality of the content matters as much or, I believe, more than the word count. Are you writing for Google or for your readers? Google doesn't buy anything. Your readers do. If you write something that ranks, but doesn't convert, what good is it anyway?
Enjoy your time with your wife and sons today. You've earned it for sure.
We are all work-in-progress. Don't loose your sleep about it only be more conscious next time.
You are right when you admit when you did something wrong things go alot easier but no worries you get things done. Thank you for sharing. This is encouraging to others that no one is perfect and life happens to the best of us.
So just pick up where you left off and continue from that point on that's all.

happy mothers day. Everyone of us is not perfect at all. I have lots of mistakes in my writings. But all the way anyway that will be checked.

Hi Paul. Glad you are feeling better and don't worry about making mistakes. I used to say "the only people who don't make mistakes are the ones who are doing nothing." I would rather do something and make a few bo-bo's than do nothing and be perfect.
